Hello everyone!
This time we will continue getting acquainted with different types of server gameplay and will learn from our competitors while improving our skills. (These days my day doesn’t have 24 hours, but only 5–6, so I’m posting this lesson late — sorry about that.)

It seems there used to be more of them, but now there are only two servers where a game lasts 72 hours (3 days) until a restart. In reality, this is a hard game mode, because you need to control the entire game for three days of your life — which is even more than two weekends. Therefore, a fast 24-hour game or the modes we got familiar with earlier will be more interesting for your choice. Still, the 24/72-hour game modes are popular, so let’s get acquainted with them as well.

There are also servers that restart in the year 2100 or 2050. Why did I combine these servers into one topic? Because the server restart is predictable. Other modes are harder to evaluate — whether it’s worth joining the game or waiting for a restart.

Servers by Marko were the first servers I got to know in the multiplayer mode of the game. I started playing OpenTTD online less than a year ago, even though I have known this game since the late 1990s.

Marko has two servers with a 72-hour game. One of them is in the normal biome, and as you can see, it’s not possible to join — because 15 companies have already been created. The other one is in snowy hills; there are fewer players there, so it will be easier to join.

Homework

HW1 (only for beginners)

Task 1. (3 points) Join any server. Create a company and earn your first profit for further development (review previous lessons).
Task 2. (3 point) Build a single-track circular railway with main basic stations.
Task 3. (3points) Create a transfer — deliver cargo to these basic stations using road vehicles.
And one point is awarded for completing and submitting this task.
Since strong players are active on the server, do not set winning as your goal. Your goal is to learn how to play, to discover something new from your competitors, and to defeat your yesterday’s self.

HW2 (for regular participants)

Join Marko’s 72-hour servers, #8 or #12. You may also join other servers with a predictable restart (for example, in 2050 or 2100).
Task 1. (3 points) Traditionally, the first task is observational. Analyze the gameplay of other players. Afterwards, you may play on another server.
Task 2. (2 points) Create a company and accumulate starting capital of more than 500k to complete the next task.
Task 3. (4 points) Choose a resource mine and develop it to the maximum level possible for you. The more resources you collect, the higher the production becomes. I reached a production level of 2,295 tons per month, with about 50 trains constantly collecting the resource. Reach your own maximum. Record two indicators in the report: the number of trains collecting the resource from this station and the station’s production.
Task 4. (1 point) Repaint the trains from Task 3 in a different color.

In the server my balance is decreasing instead of increasing even my vehicles are earning money. What is this?

in the options there is such a thing as infrastructure fees. That is, the larger your network (tracks), the more you pay. For example, there are times when the cost of an airport is very high. And it is simply not profitable to build it
