It was a Sunday morning and it was raining heavily like it won't stop. We are in rainy season no doubt. I was to check in into one of the most expensive hotels in my city that Sunday evening for a medical programme the following day which would commence as early as 9Am. The coordinators of the programme were from different states and flew in that day to have a rest against the Seminar which would hold the next day. Before this, I had activities and preparations. Follow the narration

Arriving The Hotel

My day was spirit filled as I attended a meeting that inspired me with scriptural quotations of which lessons were learnt. When the meeting came to a halt, I had to move straight to the house and prepare my bags for the programme. I left my children for three days and felt lonely without them though they accompanied me to the hotel before going back.

I've been to this hotel countless times for health programs and have become so used to it. On arriving, I headed straight for the reception while my children did photographing behind my back. I met the receptionist and told her my aim and she handed me a long list showing the names of all health workers in Nigeria who were invited for this programme.

Allocations were made for these personnel and I found my name, ticked it and got my room number on reservation. The room's WiFi password and access card was given me as I was led by one of the receptionist to the room. We got on the elevator to the room to avoid the stress of climbing stairs. The receptionist did all the necessary settings before leaving us to enjoy the comfort from the room.

The room I was taken to was a Deluxe room which was the 6th expensive room from the rank of 1-10. There were things that were naturally hidden like the switch. There were no physical switch, no remote to control the air-conditioner and the heater in the bathroom. I had to disturb that receptionist countless times using the telephone situated in the room.

Now, I'm going to explore the room with you showing some of the contents in the room. I'll start with the bathroom. The bathroom was so nice and up to standard. It has a heater situated at the top close to the ceiling. Normal, there's always a button to turn it on but I couldn't find the switch in the bathroom. The receptionist told me it's controlled by a remote that's placed on the wall of the bathroom which was more like a socket to charge phone.

It was so shocking to know this. This is the toilet seat and bath tub with a shower pipe for bathing. It was comfortable though but not as comfortably expensive as the most expensive hotel I visited last.

Now over to the room itself. It had a wall mirror and a large cupboard for dressing and undressing. The light and air-conditioner in the room are controlled by the access card given me to open the door. Quite technological! I was so confused at first that I had to call the receptionist and he came to my rescue. To turn on the light, air-conditioner and Television, there are slots you put in the cards and it's just by the door.

Amazement nearly killed me. There was a remote to control the channels on the television. The television was housed well with a nice lighted background. It was one of the standard television set I've seen no doubt. I then turned my attention to the interesting subscribed channels in it.

In the room other than the bathroom was the bed, executive arm chair, fridge embedded in a locker, teacup and spoon. These were some of the thing in the hotel room and guess what, the floor was tile which can increase the pressure of cold if the AC is turned on. I made good use of my soft palms.

I then got myself captured that night as I drank coffee. To survive in a room there's 24/7 AC, you'll need to drink hot water or coffee that's hot so the cold would be nothing but a comfort to you.

After then, I watched the popular TV show on a channel showing Nigerian Idol song challenge. I always love this channel because of the educative things done there. I didn't miss any bit of it. I had to watch it to the end. After that, I had my dinner which I ordered from the restaurant.

I ordered a light meal though, a meal of snacks which includes; omelette, bread and tea with fish pie. The mixture was mind-blowing though I ate it and had a goodnight rest till the next day which was the programme proper. I'll give a highlight of this soonest.
