SEC16W3: Raising boys and girls

When I read the name of the challenge I had to think about my colleague who just got her baby about a week ago. During her pregnancy everyone understandably questioned her if she is expecting a girl or a boy, she always answered that she does not know because she never bothered to know who it will be just important was that the baby will be healthy.
It was the same for me and my hubby we were happy to have a boy or a girl, it is never possible to predict or influence.
This is wonderful stage for parents when we have little toddlers this time it is even difficult to see the difference between girls and boys and our attitude towards them is also the same. Both have the same types of toys that promote the curiosity, thinking, being active but also they all receive pencils and paper to draw and to write.
Of course, often we try to buy different colours of colours boys blue and girls pink, which is again old tradition but it is mostly for us parents makes a difference but for toddlers it does not matter.
At this stage we treat both boys and girls the same way.
At this stage boys and girls start their own exploration of a world, some have the same likes and dislikes. We see the different games that they like to play, interest to activities. I remember a son of our friend since age of 3 he has interest in electric equipment, his father was an electrician and he just wanted to be there when his father repaired anything at home. Once he was about 10 he could repair any small electronic equipment and of course, his father encouraged that too.
As to girls, many find themselves caring after their young sibling and many dream to be teachers in either nursery of school. Is that maybe a feeling of future mother being and love that girls are born with?
Still boys and girls often play together same games and at this stage it is just a friendship and support but this is a basis of our future relationship.
In general I think both girls and boys should be treated equally and have the same chances to develop themselves in the directions they like. It is important that they have a feeling to be free and that they have the whole world to explore.
Just remember yourself when you were little you definitely wanted to be one of the Musketeer or to be on the trip with Indiana Jones and to find the treasure that nobody was able to find before and that is what we all dreamed of no matter if we were girls of boys.
Therefore, just treat your children as little adults, listen to them, they may have good ideas too. Show that you respect their thoughts even if they sound incredible, with this we hope that our children will be strong and confident adults and will be able to reach their dreams.

When I hear anything about sex discrimination I wish to laugh aloud. I knew right from a young age that there was a fire in women and that would take them to places. I knew two wonderful ladies in my life, my mom and my wife so I raised my only child my daughter in a way that people look at her with their hands holding their hats. Women will soon outclass menfolks in all walks of life. I wish you success in this contest!
It is nice to hear your opinion and I hope that many cultures and countries will have the same thinking. We need to give the same right and opportunities for women. Some of them will happily chose being a mother and housewife because they like it but there will be some who will try to get more and be involved in many outside activities and proven to be as good as men. Greetings friend, very beautiful post. I agree that it is a tradition of pink for girls and blue for boys, but both should be raised the same way and have the same opportunities. That's right, they must be free and heard. Your publication is very nice! I wish you many successes!
