Yes.
Absolutely would like to see traditional social media leveraged to market #hive somewhat aggressively. Basically, take a page out of the book of the hype-trainers, but hopefully have the product to back it up.
We need a killer app, slick UX on frontend, near-instant and free account creation, better gamification, and built-in encrypted personal-messaging engine. All of this is completely doable with a focused team.
There will also be so many improvements we can make with yearly inflation%, witness voting changes, measures to make more resilient to "51% attacks," etc. Official (HMTs?) should also be possible.
There's a lot of momentum right now and the community has proved they can rally around a common cause, so let's keep that going.

And hives should have customizable URLs too.

Great idea. I was a business consultant for a decade, so helped a lot of corporate marketing departments and sole proprietors with marketing. I actually have a decent Twitter presence under my own name, so I would probably just use that to retweet Hive content and otherwise participate. I could definitely help be a part of a cohesive marketing plan.
I also create training materials and have been supported 100% by online courses the last few years. I think weaving the marketing and training together is key. As much as possible, each welcome should include a spot of training. The "How" is what stops a lot of people, even after you inspire them.

Discord has private messaging. And we should all be on there given the MSPwaves community discussions have all been there.

didn't you see the announcement? Steem is forking. New blockchain is HIVE, and it is forking Justin Sun out.
Yeah I read it after I saw your post. It will be interesting to see what happens but my prediction is that HIVE will have a fraction of the value that STEEM will retain. That is typically what happens with forks.
We can use Horizen, Bitcoin Cash, and Ethereum Classic as examples.
I find it funny how once Justin bought Steemit Inc all these people came back and charged up and now they are all behind the previous witness group.....etc But 4 weeks before that when the same Witnesses were "running the show" they could care less about STEEM and it was a boring place where the price had flat-lined.
What do you think HIVE will be with the same code and same witnesses in charge but with less exchange support?
because no one likes to be ruled by Justin Sun. There are also a lot of changes in the works now that everything has been shaken up. also, most of the community will dump their steem....
it will not be the same.
Ned and Steemit Inc were a huge detriment to the chain.....that was one reason i personally stopped using steemit....
