Bethesda Terrace
Bethesda Terrace
For this post I thought I would share some shots of Bethesda Terrace in Central Park, I have posted about this spot in the park before in this post but I thought it was worth sharing some more shots of this spot.

Its such a beautiful spot in the park, with the colorful tiles
I did share this info in the previous post, but in case you didn't see that on I thought I would share it again
The Minton encaustic tiles of the ceiling of the arcade between the flanking stairs, designed by Mould,[12] were removed in the 1980s renovation because the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission deemed the tiles too costly to restore. Instead, the Commission approved the commission of a ceiling mural in its place.[13] Mayor Ed Koch declared in June 1987 that the tiles would be restored. Nevertheless, the tiles sat in storage for more than 20 years until the Conservancy received a private donation for their restoration. The Conservancy embarked on a $7 million restoration effort to return the Minton tiles in 2004. A team of seven conservation technicians cleaned and repaired more than 14,000 original tiles by hand. Only three panels of replica tiles were needed to replace those that had been damaged beyond repair. For those recreations, the Conservancy decided to commission Maw and Company, Minton's successor in Stoke-on-Trent, England. The tiles were reinstalled in 2007
The first shot is the main walkway under the terrace, but it also has two side areas, here is one of them, you can see more of the cool ceiling tiles but also some of the ornate work on the walls

And from around the water feature looking across at the Terraces, the ornate tile work in the first three shots is under the arches in the center of the Terrace

!BEER
Important things come first, we have talking about this lately, and what's more important than to have a great day with your wife, and to see that she is feeling better.
Maybe, because she is walking slower than you, this slowing down might be good for you too :)
!BEER
LOL yeah slowing down may be good, but I go out early and get a good walk inf or me, and I really dont mind slower walks with my wife it good times we have together

Thanks so much truly appreciated ;)
Beautiful mosaic and painting. I suspect that there was not enough light there.
Yes your right the light was not the best I really should have had my tripod with me for these shots
In the most interesting places there is usually little light. We need to come up with a cane for mounting the camera. I'm not ready to go with a tripod everywhere :-))
I have two tripods one I used for my mornings walks on the beach and a smaller one which is ideal for carrying into the city or longer walks but I seldom use it LOL
but the idea of a cane that also works as a monopod is a brilliant idea
As I noticed, you often shoot while standing on your knee, the height of the cane may just be suitable for this purpose :-)
YEs I do often get down a little low so that would be handy
!BEER
So drink to use your knees only for taking pictures!!! :D
!BEER
LOL, I am finding I get down low less and less each year, age is slowing me down
But maybe a !BEER will help
