ULOG: The Weekly Whatsup!
The weather has been improving and I've been doing a little more riding lately. It felt good to actually be able to ride around in a t-shirt and feel the sun on my skin. God I hate cold weather. I have no idea how I've lasted in Buffalo NY this long, it's like the snow capital of the U.S. Yet, here I am!
My latest adventure was getting out to Pennsylvania to pick up a backpack full of fireworks. It's about a 3 hour drive from Buffalo taking country backroads. Not only do I take the backroads, but I also take a scenic byway along Lake Erie. It's one of my favorite summer rides with lots of beautiful scenery along the way, and if you want to stop off for a drink there are beach clubs.
So I did my annual fireworks run. I usually do that in April or May. That's how terrible the weather has been this year! I'm just getting started, and it's June. That's leaving me with about 3 months of decent riding weather... IF I'M LUCKY! By October it starts getting pretty miserable weatherwise.
I've been doing some work to the Honda. I had a leaky fork seal, so I replaced that and did a fork rebuild. It took me three tries and three weekends before I finally got it right. The first weekend I stripped out a bolt, it was a holiday weekend so I couldn't get the part from a shop. The second weekend, I discovered one of the forks had a bad bushing. Again I had to wait for ordered parts. The third weekend, mission accomplished! I learned a lot though, and I'm planning on extending the front end four inches over stock now. I'm currently looking for fork extensions but if I can't find ones I like, I'm just going to order longer fork tubes and do another rebuild now that I know what I'm doing.
One of the things I'm coming to terms with though, is that my back is getting shot! I felt like I was crippled after the 5 hour round trip Pennsylvania adventure. That's the first time that's ever happened. I also had a similar experience each time I did work on the front end of the motorcycle over the last 3 weekends. I need to start stretching and if that doesn't work, I'll need to visit a doctor and find out what's up. I've had back issues since early 2001 but nothing like this. Hopefully I can get that straightend out soon. I love long distance riding too much to give it up!
So The Dood's been riding and puttering around with the Honda a lot. Outside of that, I'm trying to finish up a web design project for a client, then I need to start working on my business website, and bitcoindood.com. Both sites need a lot of work, and I need to make time to get to them.
For a Dood, I've got a bit of a shoe fetish... Well, maybe that doesn't sound right. For a Dood, I buy a lot of shoes. Playing around on AliExpress the other day I came across some counterfeit Doc Martens. I couldn't resist, for $30 USD and free shipping I had to order. They arrived, and although they look great, the right shoe is apparently smaller than the left. I've never had that problem before! LMAO. Left shoe fits great, the right shoe is downright painful. I probably won't be ordering counterfeit shoes from China again any time soon. I'm hoping they'll stretch out a bit. Such a shame because I love the way they look. I probably would of ordered a pair in each color at that price. Guess I'll have to pay full price for a pair that actually fits. After all, that's one of the benefits of Doc Martens, the comfort and durability just can't be beat! If you have any shoe stretching techniques, please feel free to share in the comments. I've been wearing them around the house with extra socks in the tight boot trying to get them to fit properly.
I've been posting to Ulogs, and Palnet a lot. If you're not using palnet.io you might want to check it out. You're posts automatically get posted to Steemit just like any other dApp and you also earn PAL. It's a really great platform and they're trying to level the playing field with rewards, and also how posts trend. It could be a good opportunity to get your posts found if you feel you're getting lost in the Steemit jungle.
Well that's pretty much it. There's not really a lot to share this week. Thanks for reading and wishing you all a fantastic week ahead! Cheers from Buffalo NY.

Hope you get some good biking weather. It's not really fun in the rain and snow.
I've not seen counterfeit shoes, but I'm sure there's a market. I used to go to a shop that had actual Docs that were cheap as they had slight defects. The company is based near us, but most of the shoes are made in the far east now. They do last though. My daughter wears their boots all the time, so she gets good value from them.
I've had a pair of Doc's in my closet since the 90s. I usually get about 3 - 4 years out of a pair. I've never had shoes last like that. I wear them a lot too.
I didn't know they were made in the far east now. I thought they we're still made in the UK. They have a huge Doc Marten store in NY city, I've been wanting to take a trip up there, just to go boot shopping.
