When The Universe Listens - NVC And Sociocracy!
After watching the greater reset a few weeks back, with some of the members of the collective that I am a part of. We felt very motivated to learn more about Sociocracy, so that we could implement this governance system and use the tools to help our group become more productive, whilst also honoring each member. Whenever a large group of people come together, it is inevitable that friction can occur and often this can lead to conflict, which really damages the group as a whole.
Our Beautiful Venue, The Temple!
Everyone within the group is very proactive and really wants to see things happen. This last year, has really brought home how unsustainable the current way of life is and that we need to make some serious changes. Our goal is to become a sovereign nation, which is self governing and self regenerative.
After many months of coming together and achieving a lot, we all felt that certain things where holding us back and that Sociocracy was the way forward.
A week later, we were approached by a person, who wished to get involved in our collective and was also a Certified trainer for the Center of NVC and also in Sociocracy. In His own words
I am a nomadic catalyst for personal, relational, and cultural transformation, striving to take small (and sometimes big) steps towards a world that works for all.
Since 2003, I have travelled the world providing public and private training, facilitation, consultancy, system building, mediation, and coaching.
In these, I use an extensive tool kit from various modalities to support individuals and groups to develop skills in conscious communication, effective collaboration, authentic relating, community/team building, shared leadership, as well as personal and relational healing.
To be honest we could not believe our luck and so it was that we had been gifted, this person who could help us move forward, whilst also bringing more awareness, more connection and more skills for effective communication within our group. We have been attending a weekly training day for the last 3 weeks and each week, we have been delving deeper into the importance of communicating and of listening. Emphatic listening.
Because if we wish to really incorporate the principles of sociocracy, we first need to know hoe to communicate in a non violent way. I have watch a few videos on NVC, mostly thanks to @eco-alex and the challenge he created back in the Steemit days (thanks for that Alex). But actually getting to engage in different techniques and using play to help bring more understanding and awareness has been amazing.
I have been learning so much about myself and my needs and how all of these affect my ability to communicate, to listen. Today we had to take part in a game, which saw us paired up. We each had to connect with that person, using only our eyes and a pen which we hand to hold up with a single finger each. It was interesting and showed me, how I have this tendency to try and lead. Then we had to also bring the focus back to ourselves, whilst also focusing on the other person and the pen.
I found this really difficult and reacted by speeding up my movements, which resulted in the other person, being unable to engage in the pen game with me. I was suddenly very impatient and had this desire to just get on with the game and as a result I could no longer connect with the other person.
So why this reaction, this is a huge part of the training, taking the time to identify what my needs where in that moment. Something that I was clearly avoiding. I realized in that moment, how difficult it was for me to bring my attention inwards, that I spend so much time, helping others, especially my children, that I was unable to take the time for myself. That in actual fact I am uncomfortable, in taking that time. How ingrained some of these conditionings are in us. Feelings of unworthiness and guilt.
It was a very emotional day for me and really brought home the importance of play. How we really learn so much, when we are in a playful state, allowing our barriers to come down and to be more relaxed and open. Open to receive and to give.
I plan on practicing some of these new techniques that I have learnt, with my girls. Especially empathic reflections, so that they really feel heard and so that I can work on the things, that really trigger me. But now I need to sign off, because I feel quite drained and tired and this year is al about paying attention to my needs more. But I am feeling very grateful for the universe providing us with this wonderful opportunity to learn and move forward in a more harmonious way.
That's very beautiful, very you.
I need to learn more about sociocracy - very intriguing! And the greater reset, which has crossed my path, but I passed it by. Thank you for the redirection.
Thank you @owasco, yes you should check out the greater reset you can still watch it online xx
I found the link via @senorcoconut. I've watched so many of these people speak already!
