MY SUMMER DANCE FOR KIDS

Lets me show you how my summer recital went with the kids in my dance school.

THE PROCESS

Going through my profile you will see I am a professional dancer and also an entertainer. I own a school (dancing school to be precise). In my country (Nigeria) every August is a summer holiday were schools closes and we have a long holiday which last for a month. Normally I always make use of this 1 month holiday to engage the younger talent, discover their talent (dance)by training them on how to dance.

This year summer class we started on 3rd August to end on 31st August. It was a nice moment with the kids, we had parents calling in from different Local Government the register their kids in our dance school. In total we had 15 kids and 11 teens during this year summer.

Due to the number of students we had, we divide the class into sections, where the kids comes to the dance studio on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Saturday was open for everyone which includes the girls the guys and the kids, Saturday was a day where everyone are allowed to showcase what they have learned so far especially the kids because most especially the school was doing everything possible to make sure they kids have confidence in their self.

THE KIDS

THE TEENS SESSION

During the summer classes we had different styles of Dance. We trained them on Ballet, Contemporary, Afro and Hip Hop. Mr Summer was the Afro instructor, Teddy was the Ballet instruction and K-dance was the Hip Hop instructor. I had to supervise all the classes as the director. During the summer as usual we do fix end of the summer event for the kids to showcase to their parents to enable the parents see what the kids and the teens have learned so far in our dance school. I meet with the instructor to talk about what to do to enable us have a perfect events to showcase everything the kids have learned during the summer. Mr Summer came up with an idea that we should do a DANCE RECITAL, well Teddy brought up an idea, we should host a DANCE EVENT, like our annual dance events which we have been hosting every year title DANCER-RELIEF. As the director, I had to measure the company's account to know if it is possible to host a dance event or dance recital for the kids due to how the country economy is currently high. At the end we came in conclusion that we are hosting a dance recitals to end the summer.

The team agreed 14 of September (2nd Saturday ) to be the date for the event. Design's was made by our graphics design and sent to me to on Whatsapp to forward it to our parents.

We had our last rehearsal on Wednesday which (11th of August) at the Studio by 10:00 a.m. we all waited till Saturday, messages with sent to all our parents to please bring the kids to the studio by 11:00 a.m in the morning so as to have a dress rehearsal with the kids before they event time which is 12:00 p.m. by 12:00 p.m.
