Spring Flowers- Kwanzan Cherry Tree Flowers- Part 15
The Kwanzan Cherry Tree is a flowering tree and it's gorgeous pink flowers bloom in the spring.
This tree is in the rose family, but the flowers resemble carnations. It is an ornamental tree and doesn't bear any fruit.
The large double flowers grow in clusters.
It was named after a mountain in Japan. Kwanzan's are one of the most popular of the different cherry trees that you will see at the annual "Cherry Blossom Festival" in Washington, D.C. In 1912, Japan gave the U.S. a gift of 3,000 flowering cherry trees.
These hardy trees grow fast and will reach a height of 20-30 feet. When the flowers are gone, the light green leaves will become dark green. In the fall, the leaves will turn to a gold color.
The shape of the Kwanzan tree is similar to a vase. I couldn't get one photo of the whole tree, so the following photos are in parts, so you can get an idea of it's shape.

I do like pink flowers. Almost all of the flowers in my gardens are either pink or purple. :)

Sorry for the late reply. I have been without internet service. Also, my daughter was 3 months pregnant and lost the baby. So sad. : (

Thanks sis! She went through pure hell and is recovering now. I was a wreck worrying about her. I hope and pray that she will be able to get pregnant again in the future as she and her husband want 3 kids.

Thank you sis! Last Thursday night she was rushed to the hospital and early Friday morning she had emergency surgery. She hemorrhaged but thank God she pulled through. She is home now and doing well. It sure has been a terrible experience.
