Thai Hut - Zeke's Tasteem Review!

Doesnt it look like a wonderful day here to be out enjoying wonderful food from tropical islands? I thought so too.

The Thai Hut is a modestly decorated and branded restaurant on the south side of town. I generally get take-out and believe it is the best Thai restaurant in town but apparently it would be a great place to come for lunch with the $750 special.

This restaurant has only been here a year or 2 and I remember a coffee pub being in the same place before closing down and remaining vacant for a while. The decor really is perfect for a small family-owned authentic Thai place and they save the fancy for the food itself.

The menu is a simple and tidy tri-fold variety rather then the fancy books and I have one attached to my fridge with a magnet. What is really neat (for our family at least) is that most of the meals are listed on the menu as vegetarian dishes and you add your meat if you are into that.

We ALWAYS go for the veggie spring rolls but apparently the satays and fritters are very popular as well. If you were coming here for the first time or even new to Thai food, I was told the Big Bhudda Platter is the best so that you can sample a wide variety of appetizers and sauces to see what your taste is.

I mentioned the Veggie Spring Rolls and this has to be like having Papadums or Samosas when you have Indian food. Essential. The sauce is sweet and spicey the way I like it and the rolls themselves are crispy and meant to be eaten hot.

My pic with the yellow lighting is not doing the Veggie Pad Thai justice. My little veggie has had PAd Thai everywhere it is available in town and Thai Hut is her favourite officially. Mom wanted to share some of this with her but it was gone too quick into a happy belly before she could.

I generally get the Peanut Curry, Coconut Curry or Massaman Red Curry because, as I mentioned, I love the rich and spicey flavours in Thai food. Khon suggested I get the Thai Holy Basil this time and I took him up on his advice. It didn't seem to come with a whole lot of sauce and I figures that the rice would end up being bland because of it but I was wrong! I mashed it all up and the rice drank in the sauce and mixed with the veggies and beef so that every mouthful was spicey and good! I would definitely have this again and interchange it from time to time with my curries.

This is the owner Khon by the way. He says that is a short form for his name and his full name would be too tough for me to understand and pronounce. So, I call him Khon and try not to picture Spock screaming his name in Star Trek movies.

He is a hard working family man striving to build this restaurant up in this small town and provide for his family. He also has his son and daughter working there which is noce to see a family unit pushing together to achieve and build something substantial.

When I eat there, which we do often, I know it is going to a good place. The food is enough to to tell your friends about but knowing I am helping a solid family makes the tips just a little bit bigger.

That looks very delicious. I also like Thai food very much.

Me too! So sweet and spicy and healthy!

It surprises me when someone says they have never had Thai food. Lets go!

Speaking of names, I think it's funny you're doing a restaurant review with a name that includes pickles. Heh heh heh

Colour me confused......

Oh.. sorry... you said that Khon told you his full name would be too tough to understand and pronounce and it reminded me of Splash.

Pickles!

That clip sure was a trip down memory lane for sure.

@zekepickleman, the place seems to be quite cosy and the food quite tasty. It is so kind of your that you support somehow (by visiting the restaurant) this Thai family. Cheers!

It is really nice being in a small town where practicing this actually means something and comes back to you in business too.

Doesn't hurt that the food is great and my family loves it.

Wow, this is the place where I can have my Thai food. Congrats to your good review 😊

Ah much appreciated!

I am liking Tasteem for a few reasons. Another great application of the STEEM blockchain, good conversation with friends here, good support from the @tasteem community, and maybe 1 person will read the review from my area and support this great family.

Looks like a great place. Food looks really good.

I would really need to have some nice white/blue light and a proper phone to photograph it properly but it really was yummy.

looks like a good place to eat. Like the price! You have any idea why you got the down vote?

Haha not sure. Probably just for my entertainment.

Seems anytime I mention @fulltimegeek (who I am a big fan of and have voted for witness) I seem to get a couple.

I see it as like a right of passage and invite it really.
