Tell us about your favourite song

Something a little different now but still great fun. Let's get musical! Music plays a big part in our lives whether we hear it on the radio, go to a live event or hear an epic score in a movie. It can provide the soundtrack to our lives and we want you to come forth and share with us your favourite piece of music. But this isn't just a case of dropping a link to the track, oh no! We are bloggers, we want to express in words everything we can! So, this is the contest results to the Music Blog Review crafted and judged by our very own, @nickyhavey (a music producer).

Music Blog Review

Criteria :

1. Minimum 300 words

2. We'd like to know why this is your favourite, tell us a story about how you first heard this piece of music, what it means to you, how do you feel when you hear it (etc.)

3. Link to the song at the END of the post so we can build up the anticipation of listening to the music by reading the post.

4. Use photos/illustrations to better express your post.

I am ever so grateful to have another one of our awesome members come in as guest judge for this week's contest. This week's contest is crafted by our very own member, @nickyhavey who is experienced in music production. He has made several tracks of his own, mostly on the genre Drum and Bass Trance. I was never in the limelight. And I love it that way! Helping people at the back. Doing backscene job. Be the faithful follower. Always supporting your leader. Take up the position of either treasurer or secretary, but never a President. I love background job. And I was in such a state at school from age 9 to age 12.

Moving into secondary school, challenges started to stomp in your way without you welcoming them...

There are so many songs (and pieces) in our life that form special bonds at various points in our lives. A snippet of a hazily remembered theme can instantly surface strong memories and emotions that are associated with with that particular fragment. Things that we thought were long forgotten or that had lost their original colour and vividness, all brought rushing back by a collection of ordered sounds!

Judge comments

I was pretty inspired by all the entries actually and all the stories people told about their favourites were so well done, every entry I read I thought, "That's Top 3" so I ended up with all 10 entries in the top 3. Everyone gave such a different account which just goes to show the breadth and depth of talent here in steemitbloggers. I had as much of a headache deciding the top 3 as the bloggers did choosing their favourite song! WE WERE IN THIS TOGETHER :D

As I was going through, I was making notes about what I liked in each post and in the end, I chose iamjadeline for top spot as I was so inspired to read her story about how she was so afraid and timid at school, she didn't want to step out in the limelight if it wasn't for a song that inspired her inner hero, then she never would realise her potential. As her life went on, the Universe presented her with chances to shine and she took them all thanks to this song so I fully related to that and felt empowered.

What I liked about Bengy's post was the way he broke down his selection criteria as being the last song he wanted to hear in life (whether he would go deaf or died), which turns out to be one he has had a hand in producing himself and the technical side of his entrywas something that maybe played to me being a music producer as well and can appreciate the technical aspects. Fionasfavorites completed the top 3 with the pure genius of describing her life story through song titles (and quoting the artists as well), ending up with her favourite from Santana. I really got the sense I was living through her life with some of those titles as she was sharing them in her story.

Having said that, there really wasn't much to choose between them all so thank you to everyone who got involved - I think it's time to see a GP with this headache I have now.

(I guess I won't be bothering our fellow judge anytime soon so he'll get a good rest from this judging. :) rest well bro.)
