There are movies that pleasantly surprise me and that I particularly enjoy in spite of having stories already told and simple, because it doesn't always take something gigantic to make the spectators get hooked.

This is particularly a story of teenagers who acquire powers told differently, from a closer point of view and first-person shots that are very similar to what we saw in Paranormal Activity. With a group of young people who stand out for forming a group that complements each other but that at one point gets out of control.

We have superpowers now!

I want to make it clear that the fact that I enjoyed this film does not make it a masterpiece, because it is not even close to being one, but it is a super entertaining film with really well done shots.

The movie starts with a group of young men who run into a kind of tunnel where there is hidden a kind of rock or giant totem that gives them psychic powers after they have been exposed to its radiation. The interesting thing is that we will be able to see how little by little the trio of young boys are gaining control over their new abilities, testing them and taking them further and further, to the point of being able to fly at will.

A trio of dysfunctional young guys who have little in common but now linked by a secret, that make then becoming more friends and forming a beautiful friendship, or at least it seemed so ... Each one of the young men keeps his powers in secret but without separating from them and on the contrary making their powers increasingly take center stage in their lives. However, everything begins to get out of control when the most marginalized and emotionally unstable of the three ones decide to go down a rocky road where he turns against the other two arguing that he does not matter to them and that they only use him. We have to understand that this young man is really emotionally damaged, with an abusive father and a very sick mother who receives little medical attention.

All these emotional factors lead the young man to take a path of crime that ends with him in a bed and then fighting directly with the police and the remaining friend, because yes, earlier this unstable young man had caused the death of the other member of the group.

Basically the story turns into a pile of fuel about to explode, an emotionally unstable, jealous, introverted young man who takes everything personal and decides to take revenge on anyone who gets in his way, transforming himself into a monster capable of making one of his best friends to die. The great thing about the movie is the way it finds to capture so many emotions and action scenes in closed first-person shots where there is no lack of detail.

Last Words.

This is a film that tells the story of a trio of young men with powers in a fresh and different way, through personal shots where we can see more closely the reactions, gestures and behavior of a trio of young men who couldn't face the responsibility of having such powerful abilities. A group of young people that little by little are crumbling as a consequence of the emotional and irrational madness of one of its members.

A film that fails a little in showing us a more concrete end where we really don't know what happened after the confrontation of the young people, everything remains in assumptions, but in general a very good film that managed to explore new origins and directions in the movies related to beings with special abilities.

The strongest point of the movie is the way the shots were handled to create an immersive environment throughout the movie.
