Transparency in Governance
For a developing nation like India, transparency in governance is crucially important. The introduction of Aadhaar as an Identity document has turned out to be revolutionary. Aadhaar involves the bio metrics of every individual so that duplication is absolutely impossible. Your thumb impression is needed for availing the facilities using Aadhaar. For a great nation like India having 1.25 billion population, this is very important. Now the Govt.of India is spreading the use of Aadhaar into various fields, including the availing of various benefits offered by the govt. Earlier, you could have used the name of any of your friends for availing such benefits like ration, with their permission, by producing their ration card with you. But now you have to put your thumb impression in the machine for the purpose, so it is not possible to sell your benefits to some others. This will help the govt. to eradicate the availing of benefits by those who do not require actually. In this way, the govt. will be able to spread the benefits to more people who actually need them.
Curbing corruption is of utmost importance for a nation where most of the money gets concentrated in the hands of a much smaller percentage of rich people. Many a times, they evade the tax by using the names of some other individuals fraudulently. This can be effectively blocked using Aadhaar.
In addition to this, Aadhaar is useful for a large number of purposes, including ensuring the safety and security of the nation. Even a small child is required to have an Aadhaar. For example, if you find a child without parents, abandoned in the streets, you can just take the child to the neerest Akshaya Kendra and have his finger scanned and find his identity, with address and full details. It is expected that the KYC procedure including biometrics will go a long way in imroving the administration of a nation.
