Smashed Avocado on Toast - 16 January 2026
The friend I made the bonnet for invited me for a long trip to the seaside. I’d been there before and wrote about it here and here. I’ve just noticed that both posts were written nearly a year ago and I had exactly the same to eat in this one ! This was not done on purpose; I guess I just go for the vegetarian option every time.
We went to the same cafe at the supermarket Tesco’s because we know the food is good value and we know the size of the portions.

This time I had a smashed avocado on a slice of sourdough bread with some feta cheese, tomato and balsamic vinegar - I’m not that keen on the vinegar but it’s part of the presentation in my opinion. If I ever go there again, I’ll try and remember to ask to leave that bit out.
I also had a regular cup of decaf latte with oat milk. I’d just finished my drink when they brought the food, but that’s okay I was quite thirsty and a bit hungry.

My friend had a halloumi burger and chips which she shared with me - they were tasty. To drink she had a chai latte with oat milk too.

We went ‘charity shop shopping’ but even then we didn’t buy a lot. The sea was beautiful as usual and the place was a bit empty because it’s winter.

It wasn’t that cold or rainy but because it was a weekday I guess there weren’t many people about.
Thank you for reading !
