RE: Steemcleaners Abuse Must Stop Now!

"This type of request is the very definition of extortion. Why should I reward Steemit with a high-quality back-link simply because they don't believe that I am who I am?"

Logical fallacy.

  1. No one has accuse you of anything. You were only asked for confirmation.
  2. No one has tried to "extort" you (are you serious?)
  3. No one asked you for free advertisement (as you claim in your response to one of our comments)

You are over-reacting.

This is normal, routine check by steemcleaners. Steemit is flooded with fake identities and blogs stealing content from various personalities claiming to be authors.
If you use content from your own site, you need to verify the authorship in some way.
You can add the mention/link to Steemit on the section of your site that it hardly being visited.
The temporary mention is acceptable.
Or you send an email to one of steemcleaners members from the e-mail provided on your site.

It is beneficial for you, in case some user submits a report accusing your of plagiarism/stolen identity.

I don't think you understand what logical fallacy means. At any rate, my content is my own. As 100% owner of my content, I choose how I distribute it: I don't have to verify authorship at all.

Steemcleaners is harassing me, requesting that I confirm my identity by specifically giving Steemit a mention or link. That provides SEO "link juice," which is something of great value, considering that I'm a mainstream-media columnist. I will not be extorted into providing this value or providing any associated credibility with Steemit.

As I have written in my post above, if Steemcleaners has any reason to doubt my identity, they can take multiple steps to ensure that I am who I am. In all honesty, they can dive into my deep body of work to realize that I speak the truth about my identity.

That would have been the smart and courteous approach. Unfortunately, we live in a society where people attack first, and ask questions later.
