Beyond the Degree: Why I am Here
In my first post, I introduced myself as a digital business enthusiast. But there is a deeper reason behind my passion. After finishing my Intermediate, I realized the harsh reality of our education system: to get into a good university, you need significant funds. Yet, the job market demands a Bachelor’s degree and years of experience just to start.
Between the books and the empty hand,
I saw the struggle across the land.
A degree that waits behind a gate,
While dreams are told they have to wait.
But why should talent sit in gloom,
Inside a crowded, silent room?
The world has changed, the screen is bright,
We’ll earn our way through day and night.
This "traditional trap" stops many talented students in Pakistan from growing. I decided then that I wouldn't just be a victim of these customs. I chose to learn digital skills to fund my own journey, and now, my mission is to help other students do the same. On Steemit, I want to build a community where we learn to work and study simultaneously, so no dream is cut short by a lack of finances.
The Foundation of My Journey: Steemit Security
To help others, I must first ensure my own "Digital Office" is secure. On Steemit, your keys are your lifeblood. Here is my understanding of the security protocols:
Have you retrieved all your keys on Steemit? Yes, I have downloaded the PDF containing my Private Active Key, Private Posting Key, Private Memo Key, and Owner Key.
Do you know each of these key's functions and restrictions?
Posting Key: Used for daily social tasks like posting, commenting, and upvoting.
Active Key: This is for financial transactions, such as transferring STEEM or powering up/down.
Memo Key: Used for encrypting and decrypting private messages sent via the blockchain.
Owner Key: The most powerful key. It can change any other key and should be kept offline.
How do you plan to keep your master password safe? I have saved it in an encrypted digital vault and also written it down in a physical diary kept in a secure location. I will never share it with anyone or enter it into third-party websites.
Do you know how to transfer your STEEM token to another Steem user account? Yes. I go to my Wallet, click on the drop-down menu next to STEEM, select Transfer, enter the recipient's username and the amount, and confirm using my Active Key.
Do you know how to do the Power Up process in Steem? Yes. In the Wallet, I select Power Up from the STEEM balance menu. This converts liquid STEEM into Steem Power (SP), increasing my influence and helping the platform grow.
