Meeting a beautiful lucky Cat!

A beautiful lucky cat (calico) crossed my path today. As you may know, it is called a lucky cat because of its three fur colors. These cats are very rare and are supposed to bring the owner luck.

I've seen this female cat on my walks before, but I never got close enough to take a picture of her.

She was very cuddly and not shy at all!

Eine wunderschöne Glückskatze kreuzte heute meinen Weg. Wie ihr vielleicht wisst, bezeichnet man damit Katzen mit drei Fellfarben. Diese Katzen sind sehr selten und sollen dem Besitzer angeblich Glück bringen.

Dieser Kätzin hab ich auf meinen Spaziergängen schon öfter gesehen, aber nie kam ich ihr nah genug, dass ich sie fotografieren konnte.

Sie war sehr verschmust und überhaupt nicht scheu!

      Calico kitty are all female as far as I know. Once upon a time I had 20 cats. Folks called me the cat lady. Great job on your 13908 steps! 😸

      OMG! 20 cats? Calico cats are mostly female, I have read. There are very rare examples of male calico cats with specific gene distribution.

          Yes, maybe this is not so known in other countries that these cats bring "luck". Here I found a very good article in english about calico kitties and exactly where the different colors come from.

          Because calico cats are so rare (especially male calico cats) they're considered a good luck charm all over the world. The folklore and beliefs about them include:
          Back in the day, Japanese fishermen brought calico cats onto their ships to protect them from harsh storms, as well as the ghosts of their envious ancestors.
          According to Irish folklore, you can cure warts by rubbing a calico cat's tail on the affected area, but only during the month of May. It's probably better to make an appointment with your dermatologist.
          The famous Japanese Beckoning Cat (or Maneki Neko) was modeled after a calico. They're often placed in the entrances of homes and businesses to bring good luck. The Maneki Neko dates back to the 1870s, so these kitties have a long history as bringers of luck.
          In the United States, calico cats are sometimes referred to as "money cats," because they bring good fortune to their owners.
