We have a hot air balloon festival every year near where I live. I have never been to it, but when I was a kid you could always see the balloons go floating past in the mornings. It was pretty cool. The ground is still pretty froze here, so it is almost as hard as the concrete!
We see these around here quite often as they do paid trips. I've never been. When I was a kid I used to see the Goodyear airship fly over town. There is a history of airships around here from the 1920s to the present.
Very cool! Not so much for the people in the 40's though...
