Sunday Quest in Chicago ❤
This morning, I woke up feeling a little down in the dumps, so I decided to go on an Inspiration Journey. I like to do that sometimes, because the randomness of wandering about aimlessly can usually shake me out of a rut. I also decided to log the journey on Steemit! I hope you might get some inspiration, too...
First, I prepared some journey fuel:
It was surprisingly sunny outside, and there were a lot of birds chirping, so I sprinkled some birdseed on my porch railing. It all blew away within seconds, so I probably ended up feeding the rats instead of the birds, but whatevs.
Then, I worked on my postcard submission for a postcard art show. @web-gnar had given me a Nick Cave postcard to use as the background. Needs a little more work, but I like it so far.
Finally, I left and began the journey.
First, I visited one of my favorite humans in the galaxy, @web-gnar. I thought he would be out skating because it was so sunny out, but he was in his room. It was kinda too windy and cold for skating, as he pointed out.
He worked on one of his postcards, too. Then, we jammed a little, but I got bummed out by my lack of skill. I wish I was better at jamming, but I guess the only way to get better is to keep practicing!
I continued on the journey.
The world is endlessly beautiful and fascinating, if you take the time to notice things. Like, I saw the most decrepit eraser in the world:
And this stuffed dead squirrel in a window:
I spied some tasty round things in another window:
I didn't really intend to buy stuff, but as I walked past one of my favorite new & vintage shops, I couldn't help but go in. I tried on a few things, and ended up buying a jacket and a pair of shorts. :)
hehe
Trying on stuff made me hungry, so I grabbed a hamborgah from Devil Dawgs.
I continued wandering. Everyone outside seemed so peaceful and happy with their hair blowing around in the strong wind and sun. I popped into the record store for a bit and they were playing some fucking good hip hop. I don't know much about hip hop or rap, so I asked who it was. They said it was Madlib, volume 5 of something (I forgot). I will be checking him out.
I ended up in another of my favorite shops- Quimby's. It's a zine shop that also has comics and other cool things to read.
My brain read this as "my aim is cunt". I thought it was some kind of feminist zine haha.
But it's actually "my aim is true." I really like how they used newspaper for the cover.
Skim through a few zines and you will always find something interesting. Something you'd never see anywhere else in the world.
This is my favorite section of Quimby's, as of late:
crypto reptilian? ;)
I decided to meander back home. I stopped at the grocery store on the way back, and bought broccoli, a potato, queso del caribe (Puerto Rican banana leaf white cheese), mustard, olive oil, and mushrooms. The deli looked interesting today:
I heard a CLACK sound as I was walking back to my apartment. It was the street lights turning on at 5:44 pm. I felt alive and fully aware of how amazing life is. I was excited to get home and work on my million different projects that are in the works. The Inspiration Journey worked. The sunset was beautiful from my porch.
that postcard art is so awesome echo.
so is that photograph of the eraser.
and i don't think anyone has made Cermak's deli look so appetizing before :)
such a nice read. into the mind of @echo-bat
we will have to jam soon again
<3 @web-gnar

Yes, we should jam again soon.

I loved reading your inspiration journey. I laughed big time because my brain read that card EXACTLY the same and I wasn't even trying. Lol. @deadgrlsuppastar started the #imkindaweird and it's me, thought you could relate too
So I wasn't the only one! Haha
Thanks, @chelsea88!
