My Experimental Project!

In preparation for the organizing of Steemit into communities I started a new blog this month @nhltoronto where I will be posting articles about the Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey team.

I have for many years been a member of a Forum called Hockey's Future. In this post you'll see what happened when I put in a link there to an article that I posted on Steemit!

How Popular is Hockey's Future Forums?

The figure on the left shows the number of threads while the one on the right shows views! I am posting in the Toronto Maple Leafs section which has about 2.4 million views!

My username is hammertime and you can see that my first post has 510 views and my second post has 1,120. Both posts send the reader to the article that I wrote on Steemit. Of course I don't know exactly how many of the viewers went on to look at the Steemit article but many mentioned it in their comments!

Here you can see my first post with the link to Steemit! It has 510 views!

Here is the second post with its link to Steemit! It has 1,120 views!

The Importance of Providing Links to Your Steemit Articles?

Of course the more visits we get to Steemit the better off we'll all be. One of the members on Steemit who is involved in its marketing is @hilarski. He often writes about the need to add links to our articles both in twitter and elsewhere.

What About You?

  • Are you Linking to your articles through twitter?
  • Do you provide links back to Steemit through other blog sites?
  • What other types of linking can we do?
  • Do you gave any advice or information on how we can do a better job at this?

Until next time,

@kus-knee (The Old Dog)

Remember, I reward the best comment(s) on each of my posts with my "The Old Dog is Throwing You a Bone" program! So please re-steem and follow so that we can spread the wealth!

Sort:

I've started a Twitter account about a month ago and am now sharing some Steemit articles through that. It is also being used to share articles from my Wordpress blog sites.

I used to post articles from my foodblog to Steemit, but now that I've mostly caught up, I'm switching things around. I now mostly post on Steemit first, then later on my foodblog with a link back to Steemit!

Great business building! That why you hit your milestone in followers!

Yes, that is good idea ! :)

Thanks for another very good article and words of advice that will and does help us all @kus-knee!

Since I am only part of Facebook and the network of friends relating to me, I usually do my linking through them. If I want life to get busier with networking, I'd put my focus on the big names of the internet such as Twitter, but I simply don't have that time in my hands... I do encourage everyone by providing their link to my sources and I share widely.

Thanks for the good words of advice, there were some pretty substantial numbers of viewers in the picks you shared with us! Impressive!!! All for one and one for all! Namaste :)

A bunch of tokens of appreciation! ;) Thanks a bunch again for your precious generosity. Namaste :)

I wish that Steemit had a way to see posts that have the most views. I've started sharing some of my posts outside of Steemit, and have gotten over 4,200 views on a recent one. And a really old post somehow got picked up and went viral with over 42,300 views. I was pleasantly surprised to see this.

I wish that the number of views had it's own tab like hot or trending, or was at least considered in deciding what is hot or trending.

It is entirely possible that a post could be getting tens of thousands of views but only earning 25 cents. I think that Steemit should try to find these hidden gems, so that some more Steemians could realize that this writer has a lot of interest outside of Steemit and could use some more support from within Steemit.

I also wish that Steemit would reward a certain amount per X number of views. I earned $8.19 on a post with 4,200 views but only 139 Steemit votes. Maybe with each 500 views Steemit could reward an extra 50 cents or so. Then I would have earned an extra $8, which I think would be fair considering how many outside people were exposed to Steemit because of it. I know that a couple of people even decided to join Steemit after reading that article.

It will be interesting to see how Steemit evolves over time.
Thanks for talking about views on Steemit.

You bring up some very good points. How about writing an article where you share info about your article that went viral. What site did you post it at, what was it about etc..,

Maybe I should write about it.
The one that went viral must have been found in a search engine by someone who runs a website with a big audience, and from there was shared many times.
It was a true story of triplets that all became autistic on the same day.

Wow truly amazing with the number of views! The topic is very important!

Thank-you thank-you!
That is so kind of you.

Being a lifelong Capitals fan, let me congratulate you on the truly excellent performance of the Leafs in the first round. What a team! The future is bright in Toronto, no doubt of it. But the Caps have to win the Cup. Right now.

This is a good reminder, this article, to run traffic through Steemit. I have a lot to improve on there.

Wow very cool. Yes the window of opportunity for the Capitals is NOW! I have predicted that if they get past the Penguins they will win the cup!

Were you perhaps an Olie Kolzig fan?

Great to have you here on Steemit!

I'm not much of a social media butterfly but here are some of the things I've I've researched that can help.
Include links back to your site in your FACEBOOK about page, in your photo descriptions, in the comments of your posts (where relevant), and in your milestones. You can do this for Twitter and all other social media sites you're on.
Submit blog posts to http://www.stumbleupon.com/

Focus on your energy on topics you love and do best. No need to follow what others do.
You can Design Visually Stunning Content and it's easier than you ever imagined buff.ly/2pdNQWr I use online editors to create designs from my photos and public domain images. Here are some examples > https://steemit.com/steemit/@pitterpatter/a-gift-for-the-steemit-community
Add your blog to Alltop...it's an aggregate for many kinds of web content, submitting your post helps your chances of getting discovered by people looking for content in your category.
Go on Yahoo Answers and answer questions relevant to your posts and leave link if it helps answers their questions.

I like Hockey's. Support and follow @nhltoronto

Great, Thanks! If you like hockey there is also @nhlhockey

You are doing a worthful action for steemit! You can use the view counter of the articles on steemit to get an good estimate for the link followers.
I by myself use almost only steemit. After having written an article, I send the link to some people via email or communicator app.

You are doing a great job here on Steemit!

I'm not a fan of hockey, but I liked the dolls. Funny =))

That's good enough for me! They're really nice!

I love this!! Nice job!

Thanks so much. I'm having lots of fun!

Hi @kus-knee
Unfortunately, I am not a big user of social media, I only use facebook. I am however doing the same now, instead of posting photos etc. on facebook, I post the link to my steemit post, hoping to intrigue the people in order for them to register their own accounts.

I understand you. I was born in the 1950's!!! and I was never even on social media besides Steemit. I had to get a Facebook account to join Steemit and I had never even looked at it before. Anyway just having fun that's all!

You are even an older dog than me, born in early sixties!
