They really are. They can seriously go suck balls. I have put so much time into that platform and money, and built some awesome pages, and now they want MORE money just to show my fans my stuff. They. Can. Suck. It.

Most people who still spend significant time on centralized social media don't seem to get it. What they are building is a technocratic control grid. Your participation is giving them consent to enslave and impoverish you. Your participation gives them ownership and control. Don't do it.

Years ago a parasite named Mark McDonough set up a website called astrologysoftwareshop.com and offered astrologers a cut of profits on software if they would link to that domain. I was solicited to do the same. This was the year 2000 and I had the #1 spot for the keyword "astrology software" on Google. After this, astrologysoftwareshop.com got the top spot. Suddenly my sales were dropping and I knew why. Mark was essentially scraping off the top of profits of all software producers in the field. His business failed a few years later.

It's the same business model that Mark Zuckerberg is doing; corner the market by owning over a billion people by making them too lazy to click out of FB, then basically extort business owners by telling them that unless they pay for your services, they will make sure that you won't be seen.

Parasites need to be sent packing.

Very good example of the old internet versus today's example of social media monopolies.
