AFL Fantasy Weekly Injury Snapshot 😷
Hi Everyone,
Here is a roundup of all the Fantasy relevant injuries after Round 5.
Short week thanks to Anzac round so forgive the lateness of this weeks injury addition.
Still time to adjust your team if you get an nasty surprises below.
Adelaide:
The big news here on the injury front is the continued absence of Rory Sloane.
That foot injury is keeping him out another week.
Brad Crouch continues to be listed as 4-5 weeks away.
Eddie Betts and Cash Cow Lachlan Murphy are only 1 week away from returning.
On a positive note Fantasy beast scorer Matt Crouch returns this week from that hamstring injury and handy dual position defender/midfielder Mackay returns as well.
Brisbane:
Not much in the way big Fantasy injury news at the Lions.
Zorko's elbow is ok and he has been named.
Hodge is rested this week and Rich finally returns from that ankle strain.
Carlton:
The Blues continue to miss arguably their 2 most important players Marc Murphy (3 more weeks out) and big Kreuzer who failed a fitness test for this week.
They do regain important defender Marchbank and GWS recruit Matthew Kennedy this week.
Collingwood:
What a win by the Pies on Anzac day who look back to their pressuring best.
Playing the reigning premiers they could of used the class of Wells this week but he is going to get another week in the VFL.
Darcy Moore and Taylor Adams could not get up in time either and they will both miss one more week with those hamstring injurys.
As will Jamie Elliott who must of tempted selectors this week.
Ball winning defender Josh Smith is over hamstring injury and available for selection this week.
Essendon:
No big injury news at Bombers other than the fact Bellchambers and Myers will both be rested this week.
Fantasia was unable to get over his groin injury in time for this weeks match and will miss again.
Fremantle:
The big news out of last weeks matches was the bad foot injury sustained by in form Matt Taberner.
He is expected to be out for up to 8 weeks in a blow for Fantasy coaches who took him in the Draft format.
Brad Hill seems to have the worst Bone Bruising ever as will now miss a 3rd consecutive match with it. Maybe bone bruising is code for ligament damage at the Dockers.
Bennell is apparently upping his training load and close to yet another WAFL come back game. No exact return date has been given as yet.
Geelong:
The Cats continue to be vague about the serverity of Gary Ablett's hamstring injury and he is listed as 1-3 weeks away.
The Cats leading goalkicker Menzel will miss with soreness this week but will be replaced by the returning Hawkins.
Scott Selwood was named last night but is still in doubt after that nasty concussion last weekend. Expect him to be a late withdraw so be wary about naming him in your Fantasy side this week.
Henderson and Harry Taylor still listed as indefinite.
Guthrie is still 5-6 weeks away with that nasty ankle injury.
Gold Coast:
In a blow for the Suns last weekend Mcpherson suffered a nasty broken leg which will likely end his season early which is a shame as he had almost cemented his spot in their best 22 and was showing promise for Fantasy coaches as well.
Kade Kolodjashnij suffered a concussion in a NEAFL game over the weekend so he won't return as yet.
Hanley is listed as 10-12 weeks away with that dislocated shoulder.
GWS:
Big news here is Toby Greene has pulled up lame on the training track with foot soreness.
Not a lot of information as yet but he is certain to miss this week and could miss many more depending on how early GWS have caught the injury. Giants fans will be preying it is not Navicular related.
In further worrying news for Giants fans Josh Kelly will miss a 3rd straight week with a groin injury.
The dreaded osteitis pubis rumours will start soon if he is not back. Big watch on how he is moving when and if he returns.
Rory Lobb was listed as test for this week but did not pass it and will miss another week.
Scully is still 8-10 weeks away from resuming.
Hawthorn:
A blow for Hawks this week with Liam Shiels to miss with Back Soreness and Sicily suspended for the week.
Puopolo and Cyril Rioli remain out for 4-5 more weeks.
The Hawks do get Shaun Burgoyne back as he has recovered from that Hamstring strain
Melbourne:
Dee's fans would not be happy with Petracca's dogs right now after one of them bit his finger a week ago.
Petrecca played with it bandaged in the weekend but it has become infected to the point it has required surgery.
This means Petracca is a definite out for this weeks important game against Essendon.
Jetta is listed as a test for this week with an ankle strain so he may yet be a late withdraw.
Viney is edging closer to a return from that foot injury and is listed as 2-3 weeks away.
Tom Mcdonald is a surprise chance to return early from his foot injury as he has been listed on the extended interchange for this week.
North Melbourne:
One could excuse Shaun Higgens for been a little tired during last weeks match against the Hawks given his wife gave birth in the early hours of the morning before the game.
As ex Saints Forward Justin Koschitzke will tell you, an AFL football match is not the best place to be if you are not at your sharpest.
Unfortunately for Higgens he never saw Ryan Burton's hip & shoulder coming and he was completely layed out.
Such was the severity of the hit, Higgens was taken to hospital via ambulance with a nasty concussion that will keep him out this week.
On a side not Burton was let off by the Tribunal in one of the more puzzling decisions of recent memory.
My understanding was that if you elect to bump and catch your opponent high, you are suspended every time.
Especially if your opponent was left injured.
The fact Higgens was unconscious and taken to hospital seemed to indicate contact must of been high?
No other Kangaroos injury news of note this week.
Port Adelaide:
Bad news out of Port this week with in form Hamish Hartlett doing his ACL at training.
Shocking news for the Power as he will miss the rest of the year now.
Powell Pepper will miss one more week with suspension after the AFL's long winded investigation into his late night drunken behavior was completed.
Ryder is getting close to a return from Achilles soreness and is only 1-2 weeks away now.
Richmond:
The reigning premier have been enjoying a dream run on the injury front this season.
Caddy will return to the side this week and Vlastuin has also been named although remains in doubt.
St Kilda:
Newnes suffered concussion in last weeks match and seems to of recovered as was named to play last night.
He would still be a risk of being a late withdraw so will be interesting to see if he boarded the plane to Tassie.
Roberton is still listed as indefinite after that irregular heartbeat issue. He has one more round of tests to go and if they are all clear he should be back soon.
Bruce is still listed as 6-8 weeks away with that Back injury.
In positive news, important defender Webster will return to bolster the Saints backline this week.
Sydney:
Huge news on the injury front this week with the news Buddy will miss the trip down to Geelong courtesy of a bruised heel. They can be tricky to shake off in a week normally so expect him to miss 2 matches at least.
Hanneberry is not moving anywhere near his explosive best this year and has succumbed to a groin injury that he has been carrying.
No injury time has been given by the Swans but I expect he will miss a few weeks at the very least.
Towers will also miss this week with an eye injury.
West Coast:
No real new injury news at West Coast.
Vardy is a chance to resume in the WAFL this week and exciting forward Ryan is still 10 weeks away.
Shuey is listed as a test due to a toe injury but no way he will let that keep him out in Derby week.
Western:
Much improved Defender Bailey Williams was a surprise out last week with an ear infection.
He has recovered from that now and will play tonight against the Blues.
Crozier returns from injury also and Hunter returns after that one week suspension.
Important Defender Adams is slowly getting closer and is about 4 weeks away.
Dickson unfortunately did his hamstring on the week just as he was returning to form and will miss 4-6 weeks.
Liam Picken is still listed as indefinite with concussion issues.
That wraps up the injury report for another week.
I hope the Dream Team gods have been good to your team and they are keeping healthy.
If not remember to get that team fixed before lockout tonight.
Cheers from @aflfantasy owners @dahmsy79 & @o07
