Farm bankruptcies have risen 70% YTD. While the trade war with China and the rest of the world has exacerbated it somewhat, the trend started before the 2nd Trump admin assumed power and is mainly the result of a combination of lower global crop prices and higher input costs (e.g. seed, herbicide fertilizers, equipment/repairs) that squeeze small family farms the hardest. That is why it is called a K shape: crop prices came down from pandemic highs but input costs stayed on the same soaring trajectory.
