Tesla's Optimus Robot

At an event on Thursday, Tesla’s Optimus robot was showcased, and Elon Musk made an exciting statement, saying, "Robots have developed significantly, almost like having R2-D2 or C-3PO from the famous Star Wars series." He then played a video showing the robot performing simple tasks like walking a dog and serving drinks.

In the same event, Musk also introduced a car without pedals or a steering wheel, entirely controlled by artificial intelligence, and mentioned it will be available by 2026. As for the robots, no exact release date was provided, but he did reveal an important detail that many might be curious about—the price. He said he aims to price it between $20,000 and $60,000, which is in the range of modern cars, making it relatively affordable for many people.

In the video, the robot was shown watering plants, and Musk mentioned it will be capable of cooking and serving drinks. While this is undeniably impressive, the idea of having an emotionless entity at home that could potentially be hacked is concerning. Like any tech device, it could have vulnerabilities, especially since such robots are likely to connect to the internet for updates. This raises serious questions about safety—if it can cook, it can use a knife, so is it really safe to leave something like that in your home while you're asleep or with your kids alone?

Musk concluded by saying this will be the invention of the century and that all 8 billion people on Earth will eventually want their own Optimus robot.
