“Ages in Time”
Somewhere on one of these dusty cable channels I recall a narrator suggesting that the zodiac could date back a million years. Who was around that long ago to imagine this cosmic wheel? Later, when ancient aliens came into vogue we were told that the Annunaki, space alien gold-diggers arrived on Earth some 450,000 years ago. Giver or take. If your modernity is Christianity, than every X on a cave wall looks like proto-Christians were worshiping the Christ 10,000 years before he showed up.
We are attempting to make some sense of all of this “evidence,” scrolls, legends, myths, statutes, mysteries and symbology, that we have encountered, (none of it first hand), over the decades.
It’s largely meaningless, but I find it interesting. It’s also a challenge to explain. I don’t expect that very many humans have a point of embarkation to which they can grasp. It’s easier to explain the Big Bang “theory.”
Because the Earth is shaped like an egg, (humor me), it wobbles. So what? This is why we have seasons. Contrary to mythology is not Persephone’s biannual visit to the underworld that makes the seasons change. Earth wobble also give “us” what’s called the presession of the equinoxes. Here’s the basic of basic explanations of this “phenomenon.” It’s March 20th 2026. The first day of spring. You face due east, (the orient) and the sun rises. If you could look beyond the sun you would be able to make out the constellation, Aquarius. Maybe. This means that we are in the Age of Aquarius.

Every age, according to those who study this stuff, has its own symbology, which includes a zodiacal representation, a sun deity, hero, or savior. The hero is the personification of the Sun.

The Age of Leo, was the last age before the cataclysm. The most glaring remnant of this age is the Sphinx.
We suspect that most of the Age of Cancer was spent recovering from the devastation. The symbolism was mainly about water, fertility and repopulating the Earth. Although this lofty task probably wasn’t the minds of Ma & Pa survivor.
The Age of Gemini is said to have been about duality. Lots of stories about twins, contrast and conflict might have emerged in this epoch. Some of the stories and characters have survived, mainly in esoteric circles.
The skies seem to have been very important to the ancients. Not just for keeping time. Not just for festivals, (which were really for harvests, because food is always a good reason to party), and not just for weather. We suspect that the celestial neighborhood was quite a bit different 6 ages ago. But we have radio telescopes now and infrared gizmos that can detect heavenly orbs that escape the naked eye, so who needs to build animal calendars?
There no way we are going to figure this stuff out. So we’ll do what Occidental intellectuals do. We’ll make it up. We will called it a “hypothesis,” and after while, when we fail to prove it, we will call it a “theory.” Then, a little while later, we will drop the pesky “theory” word, out of sight out of mind. Then humans will simply take it as truth. Or better yet, religion.
Noxism.
It has the ring of truth.
