The Abrahamic Covenant: I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless. Genesis 17:1

The Book of Genesis begins the story of Abram's life when he was already very old; according to the scriptures, when God called him to leave Haran, currently a town in Turkey, and go to Canaan, he was already 75 years old. The Sacred Scriptures relate that when God called Abram, He promised him that he would be the father of a great number of descendants, and sent him to Canaan, the land that God promised to Abram's descendants.
The Book of Genesis does not specify the particular reasons why God chose Abram, but Abram had something in common with all those whom God blesses: the gift of fear of God. The fear of God is the beginning of the relationship with the spiritual world, and in particular with God. The spiritual gift of fear of God is constancy, firmness, devotion, and is also de desire to be instructed. And the fear of God is related to another spiritual gift, in the face of a God who called him to fulfill a mission in the world, in the face of a God who made himself manifest to him, Abram's response to these events was the trust or the security in God. And the Bible says that this fact pleased God. And because of all this, one of the blessings Abram received was the gift of longevity; in fact, when his son Isaac was born, the Bible says that Abraham was already one hundred years old.
And God called Abram several times until He sealed a covenant with him, changed his name to Abraham, and promised the land of Canaan to all his descendants. Furthermore, God required his faithfulness and that of all his descendants, through the sign of circumcision.
And the Book of Genesis relates that while Abraham was in the land of Canaan, the Lord began to communicate with the patriarch with these wise words: "I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless. Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers" Genesis 17:1-2.
God and Abraham sealed what is known in the Bible as the Abrahamic covenant, a covenant that was not sealed with imperatives or commands, except for circumcision, but with something deeper that later, with Moses, would be expressed in the first and second commandments: the fear of God in the hearts of men.
