You are so right about life. Let these fat whale wars be the death of Steemit. It's a waste of time for creatives.

I don´t think it´s a whale problem. It´s rather a society problem. In a self-governed environment it´s even more complicated to control these impacts since we are all kind of responsible but it seems that nobody feels responsible. From my point of view in a healthy eco-system these movements shouldn´t ever been tolerated. But nobody is brave enough to stand up and raise their voices, supposedly because they fear being attacked as well. I´ve tried the opposite way as I mentioned: motivating people, welcoming newbies, spreading good vibes.
But hey, there is this point of time when you realize that you are fighting against windmills and that your time and creativity is simply not worth it...
I am totally on the same plane. I have gone through the together we can stop this madness. But, it's wasted time coming against 2Fat 2Rich 2Be Stopped and it's taken it's toll.
It's not just the few SP Whale bullies but their SP Whale friends, auto bots, and clone accounts. It's hurts the community and the platform and until @ned and others who could help the community do something we will continue to see Steemit lose great content creators.
Money, tools and inside knowledge on how to manipulate the system will always outweigh anything we do. I'm with you @surfermarly it's TIME TO SURF. “Life is too short to waste your time on people who don’t respect, appreciate, and value you.”

You are absolutely right. There is no reason to spend time at places where you are not respected as you should be... However that´s not a goodbye forever. If things changed some day, I´d consider to come back. Right now, I feel more comfortable in the water than anywhere else :) And I have to practice these tubes btw... haha!

Trolls are a small problem and have no power like the few SP whales who devalue steemit's community. SP Whales have money, power and the knowledge to keep doing what they do without consequences and most steemians won't help SP Whale victims.
Sometimes a comment - independent from SP value - can hurt even more than a powerful downvote... It depends on the who and the when. We have to bear in mind that some people are weaker and more sensitive than others. I personally don´t care if somebody attacks me here since I am self-confident enough to know that they are wrong. However, there are a lot of people who go crazy about it. If we look away and don´t help them (even when risking to be attacked as well), we are as evil as the ones who are trolling...
