Cognitive Dissonance Part II
Cognitive dissonance is the state of having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, or attitudes, especially as relating to behavioral decisions and attitude change.
If you live in a country ruled by a group that classifies themselves as a constitutional democratic republic and you think your constitution protects your freedom, yet you fight tooth and nail to get the "right" person in charge of selecting who interprets the document, you are suffering from cognitive dissonance. For example, the US Constitution cannot both be there to protect your rights AND be subject to the whims of a small group of people for interpretation, namely the SCOTUS. It's not possible, those two ideas are mutually exclusive. Your rights are for you alone to protect, the state neither desires nor is capable of keeping you safe. Rule yourself.
