Amazing Animals Serie 11: Squid Worm.
It was discovered in 2007 in the benthopelagic zone of the Celebes Sea, near the Tawi-Tawi islands of the Philippines. This rare animal is a segmented worm, like an earthworm, but with the difference that it has a strange appearance and that for many people it is not attractive at all.
An adult squid worm is dark brown in color, covered with a jelly-like sheath. While the youngest worms are transparent so it is almost impossible to identify them in the depths of the sea.
Characteristics
- His body measures approximately 9 centimeters.
- Its color is between black and brown.
- It has 25 pairs of white cells.
- It has 10 appendages on the front side that make its appearance unusual and resemble that of a squid. These appendages have the appearance of very thin arms and tentacles. It is believed that it uses these appendages to collect the remains of food that fall into the sea.

This creature does not have eyes to help it move in its environment, however, it relies on its organs that are in its head to smell.
