The Blue Morpho

This is a shot of a Blue Morpho butterfly taken in Coasta Rica. On the grounds of the Mawamba Lodge in Tortuguero , they did have a pretty massive garden with all different types of plant species and they were labelled to show the names of everything. Towards the back there were two greenhouses and one had a butterfly hatchery in it.

There were quite a few of the Blue Morphos flying around , but it was a bit difficult to get a shot with their wings open and having them stay put :) . Unfortunately this one's wings were a big damaged as you can see , but it did allow you to see the wonderfully iridescent blue on the inside of it's wings.
