All what you need to know about GREEN ANACONDA

in #animals7 years ago

Green anaconda, whose Latin name is Eunectes Murinus Linnaeus was discovered in 1758. Her reputation has been somewhat damaged by the movie "Anaconda", which showed her as a 20-meter snake devouring everything she encounters on her way. Contrary to the fantasies of the directors about the exuberant imagination, I must admit that this snake really has "something" inside it that makes us feel both fear and respect to it. Today I will introduce you to the figure of this majestic animal.

A huge, heavy and strong snake but not as people describe it

There is a lot of information about the 12-meter snakes of this species living in the Amazon or the Congo. Unfortunately, this information is not official. The longest documented anaconda was 7 meters long. The typical length of the female is about 4.5 meters, and the male - a little over 3 meters and it is really rare to find an anaconda more than 5 meters long. It is interesting that the Zoological Association has announced that the one who catches Eunectes whose body length will be 10 meters will receive a prize of 30,000 dollars.

It doesn't change the fact that these snakes are real monsters. Anacondas may have a body circumference of 1 meter, a diameter of 30 centimeters and weigh heavily over 100 kilograms! I recommend you to make a small experiment - measure the circumference of your thigh at its widest point and try to embrace it. This will help you imagine what this snake is huge.

Anacondas are great swimmers. They can swim at a speed of 20km / h and be submerged under water without breath for more than 20 minutes. This makes them even more camouflaged. Their coloration (dark green-yellow covered with maroon stains) blends very well with the blurred waters of the Amazon.

Occurrence and life lenght

As mentioned above, anacondas occur in the rainforests of South America, and more specifically in the Amazon basin and Orinoco. As for the length of life - snakes from the "constrictor" family are long-lived. This means that their natural lifespan is over 20 years. Unfortunately, they usually live to be less, because the jungle has many dangers.

As to the life in captivity, the oldest anaconda at the time of death was 31 years old.

Hunting and feeding

In this matter, the anacondas absolutely don't fuss. They will eat literally everything they can swallow. From large rodents such as capybara, through monkeys to small crocodiles.

As it is known, the anaconda belongs to the "constrictor" family and, consequently, kills with a deadly grip. He grabs his victim, wriggles around her and tightens his scrolls. This snake has the strongest grip of all the snakes that currently exist on the planet, so the chances of getting rid of her "hugs" are small.

After eating the victim, anaconda can digest it up to 9 months!

The construction of the anaconda skull is very interesting. Its curved "in" teeth don't allow you to break away from the victim. The more the purpose of this serpent tugs, the deeper its teeth make it impossible to escape.

IF YOU ARE  GOING TO BREED AN ANACONDA

An adult female of more than 4 m in length and a mass of 60 kg has enough strength to strangle a human, but it must be remembered that there is no documented case of an adult adult anaconda attack on an adult human in order to eat it. Anacondas despite the possibilities that give them huge size and gigantic strength do not hunt people.

It is absolutely unacceptable to contact children directly with anacondas. Individuals over 3 m are ALWAYS serviced with the assistance of a second strong person. It should be remembered that despite the stocky body and seemingly lazy character, this snake is able to attack you and strangle you in the blink of an eye.
