A unique marriage system

Have you ever heard of a tradition in which all brothers marries to a single woman. It may look weird to someone but for the people of Doplo in Nepal this ritual is a part of their decades old culture. Here in Doplo all men of a family has to marry a single woman. The woman first marries to the eldest brother among all and after that all younger brothers enter the relationship.

The most fascinating facet of this ritual is that it is still sustaining in a modern world. Peoples here take this as a conducive to their day to day life. They don’t get jealous when their wife shares badroom with someone else. In this cultur there is no role of biological father. Everyone has to perform the duties of houshold. Woman have the authority to decide where to spend the earnings of her husbands.

The residants of Dopla thinks that this ritual hepl them keep the family property undevided. Though the polyandry system existed for decades but as the Doplo is approaching fast towards modern life this ritual is getting diminished
