The Book of Acts tells about the faith of the apostles during the times of the early Church, a time when the strength of the gifts of the Spirit of wisdom manifested with power in the new believers. While Jesus was on earth, he had promised his disciples a Paraclete who would help them after his departure, but until the disciples received the necessary wisdom, this knowledge was hidden from them. But after Pentecost, with the arrival of the tongues of fire, the disciples understood the truth, and so they went out with faith and determination to preach the doctrine of the Kingdom of God to the pagans and the descendants of Abraham according to the flesh.
But this spiritual Kingdom had enemies, and these enemies were those who made oppression a good business, the freedom proclaimed by Christ and religious oppression were at stake. The Book of Acts relates that after Peter's second speech and the healing of a paralytic in the temple, the first persecution against the early Church broke out.
But this did not stop the growth of the early Church, and the disciples with faith, continued to teach the common and simple people, as the Book of Acts relates, in Solomon's Portico. The story goes on and the Book of Acts explains that the High Priest, along with the Sadducees, had the disciples arrested again, and during the night, an angel of the Lord freed them and told them: "'Go, stand in the temple courts,' he said, 'and tell the people all about this new life'" Acts 5:20. And so the Book of Acts relates that the disciples had no fear of men but only of God, and with these words the book relates what happened next with the disciples of Jesus: "At daybreak they entered the temple courts, as they had been told, and began to teach the people" Acts 5:21. With this, Jesus' apostles gave a tremendous example of faith and hope in the Kingdom of God.
The early days of the Church were hard and difficult, but through perseverance in preaching and the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the Church flourished and went from being a simple sect to becoming the greatest religion in human history.
