Escaping The Grim Reaper

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it.

In order to express exactly this contradiction, I painted this picture.

How it`s done:

As is so often the case with light art, some preparations had to be made first. Sometimes the preparations take longer than the actual long exposure process to work out as it was in this case.

Actually everything on this photo is fake. No butterfly, no scythe and no cape. The Butterfly is just a cutout which was attached to a torch. The scythe is just a woodstick with a cardboard cutout as well. The cape is just a black curtain with a thick robe and the model "Burner" just wore a large black hoodie. Technical we just used 3 Elements. A big bright Torch a backlight for the model. A small red torch as backlight for the Butterfly and of course a lot of smoke.
