A new Landmark

Kuala Lumpur the capital city of Malaysia is home to famous architectural marvels like the Petronas Twin towers and the KLCC Towers. While they might be KL's crowning Jewels ;
The NEW PAM Center is the striking new icon of 21st century - sustainable architecture.

Fun fact KL is also know as the birth place of the infamous @anandkphoto

Architect Mohd Heikal Hasan has skillfully utilized the steep slope of the street to build the PAM center while utilizing the limited space and minimizing the carbon footprint of the building.

Sense and Simplicity

This building is the truest manifestation of the fact "Less is More"
At 8 stories tall and only 3,782 square meters of built up area - the building is home to an auditorium,exhibition spaces and a sky bar!

"The magic is in the buildings structural engineering and floor plan" explains ace architect Christopher Benninger
"More specifically the fact that in each floor - starting from the top ,one rectangle has been omitted"

Think of the entire building as an inverted staircase.
This structure gives the building huge breathing space and incredible amounts of light. The exterior of the building is wrapped with air gaped huge black aluminium screens, to prevent over heating of the actual structure.

The New PAM center can be a great case study for architecture students and an absolute delight for anyone who remotely enjoys great design (hint: everyone).
So the next time you are in KL do visit Bangsar for a quick walk-around in the building

I had the great fortune to visit this building for an art exhibition with Datuk Ramil Ibrahim and legendary architect Christopher Benninger

Here are some pictures from that day
