About #17 - Polka

Hey SteemFam!

This is one of the first pieces I ever sold. It is an upcycled jam jar that was lying in our kitchen. At that point in time, I was actively looking for any glassware that I could use to paint and practice.

I did not have any acrylic paints with me back then, so I only used glass paints.

You can see some of the glass paints lined up to the left

Originally, I had thought of just leaving the jar like this:

But after visiting the art and craft supply store, I found some new glass liner colors (silver and gold) that I was impatient to use, so I ended up randomly making some silver circles on the jar.

I had also bought some acrylic paints, so I painted the jar lid black with the acrilic paint and once it was dried, I put some of the silver glass liner on the blackened lid.

Glass liners don't necessarily have to be used on glass surfaces only. There are some liners that can be used on fabric as well as glass. I think the basic ingredient of these liners is white gle. I could be wrong... I've never bothered to check 😛

It was fun painting this piece. I had just gone through the internet and looked at some of the designs. One bottle I saw looked very unique with all the bubbles. Mine looks nothing like it as I still have not been able to replicate the look of making the bubbles touch in such a way that you feel no need to fill the gaps because they do not look like gaps... if that makes any sense... LOL

I love crafts, and this is such a fun idea. I love the way the sun lights up the colours, maybe it was a blessing you didn't have acrylic paints, because you ended up using glass paints and it turned out well! Keep up the crafts!

Hahaha... thank you ☺
Actually i wasn't aware that acrylics too could be used on glass. That's why I bought only glass paints. After watching a few bottle painting videos I saw that many of them used acrylics.

I use both now ☺
