RE: Urban Impressions (Excerpts from a group exhibition)

in #art8 years ago (edited)

Very nice work, there's something captivating about the mixed use of media. Charcoal is one of my favorites, it is explosive yet controlled. Not sure though which aspect of the urban city evokes the form as it is more organic than constructed -cheers

I don't think the pieces evoke the city from a structural perspective but rather from a personal perspective. How does the city affect the people living it? What is the relationship between the people in the urban spaces? These are the types of thoughts that drove these submissions. I think it captures the indifference of the city but through the lens of the humans inhabiting it. But this could also be an elaborate explanation trying to justify work that has nothing to do with the theme. You decide! :)

Thanks for commenting!

Thanks for the explanation. I see you're beginning to think like an architect maybe? which didn't occur to me. Interesting art engages the observer by evoking emotions in the observer, and activates the thinking process. Such as the thought of what is it that grabbing your attention, but cannot figure it out at the first glance, or the second. Maybe the theme is hidden in the work, and how the city affected you -cheers
