Popcorn popping trees!
A striking oil painting of a peach tree, with an haunting moody effect!
Oil painting by Ada Fagan:
Why I painted this scene:
To start with, I was inspired by van Gogh’s way-out paintings of the countryside.
Secondly I wanted to give the painting some moodiness, with a touch of abstract appeal.
Which, as it turned out, gave the effect of `pink popcorn popping’ off the tree’! And that reminds me of the children’s happy little Sunday school primary song, “Popcorn popping on the apricot tree”.
The actual place:
This peach tree was growing on the outer edge of our orchard, when we had our 10 acres years ago. That is, the small holding I had blogged about on Steemit previously...just of of the homesteading series, if you are interested: https://steemit.com/life/@artguru/water-is-so-important-in-our-lives
We had a large fruit orchard we had planted, alongside the house we built ourselves.
When you looked out of the children’s bedrooms, you looked out onto the orchard. Very pretty in spring time!
This painting doesn’t show the whole orchard, only the outer edge, looking south where most of our worst storms came from.
The dark tree behind it, in the painting, is a young olive tree. And alongside that, was our driveway, leading and sloping gradually down to our house and my studio that I had in those days.
I certainly miss the life out in the country with all its wild nature surrounding us.
Hi, I'm surprise that you noticed my post, since your own blog site shows you don't post much yourself.
Hope you still enjoy your popcorn. Sorry I can't give any off my peach tree. We no longer live there.
