Only Happy Thoughts: A Cautionary Tale (Original Artwork)

Are you suffering from DDD?

What’s DDD you ask?  DDD is the inevitable conclusion of only chasing happy thoughts, also known as Disney Disassociative  Disorder.  Refer to the following illustration below.

Don’t worry there’s still hope.  And yes, you still have options.  If you are one of those unfortunate souls suffering from DDD, there is a simple treatment option you can incorporate into your day-to-day life.  But first, here are some common symptoms you can refer to, in order, to correctly identify your DDD.

1.  You find yourself talking to and making friends with inanimate objects, like candlesticks and teacups.

2.  You think that every story should always have a happy ending.

3.  You have a sudden overpowering impulse to break out into cheesy Broadway musical style songs.

4.  You can’t go outside, unless you have a totally loyal animal sidekick.

5.  You feel like no one should ever be aloud to die.

6.  Everyone and thing around you has to be cute.

7.  You feel like, just because you were born, you should be treated like a magical princess.

8.  You need several pointless one-dimensional subordinate friends to periodically provide comic relief.

9.  No matter what you do in life, light is good and dark is bad.

If you identified with any of the following, yes, you are likely suffering from DDD.  And, yes, you are emotionally and possibly even mentally retarded.  But don’t worry there is a simple treatment plan that you can apply.  It’s called, being rational.  And in case that word is perplexing to you, it means accepting the GOOD and the BAD.  The LEFT and the RIGHT.  The UP and the DOWN.  Remember, life is a game of context.  The bad always gives the good, (and your soul), meaning.  Know it.

Warning:  common side effects of rationality might include being reasonable to facts and logic.  If you are unsure if the truth might affect you negatively, it may be due to being a bad person.  If you suspect that you are a bad person you should immediately stop what you are doing and refer to a competent philosopher.
