It's not raining here

in #art7 years ago

I have this good intention that I will include a 15 minute sketch in my daily routine. How many times have I actually done it? Oh … 0.

I wish the days were longer. I wish it was April in the true meaning. Rainy, wet, cold and moody. That way you don't feel bad when you are cooped indoors in the afternoons. But no … I have been wearing flip flops and short sleeves in the last week … and my days are packed.

I finally had an opening this afternoon and this was supposed to be my 15 min sketch. Then I started watching tutorials on coloring … and it stretched in 3h and a half. Done in Corel Painter.

Firstly, I am sitting down for my second break with a hot cuppa and checking Steemit. Outside the rain is pounding the windows and the sea is frothy and tipped in white. The sky is grey and my afternoon 'gardening' treat has been potting up some dahlias and other plants and messing about with more seeds and such getting ready for the Summer garden.

We had two days of sun and warmth and today it is a joy to have cooler rain as it really is a great boon to fussing about indoors sketching and playing

Now second, OH what a wonderful result your hours of work have been! Don't you love painter?! This little guy is adorable and very well coloured and your use of highlights creating light is superb! Lovely. I like the smokey bit, was that ink? Watercolour? I'm bad with my painter as I just use it like a paint box and mostly use watercolour, oil, pastel, ink and pencil and that's it I know there are many great cool other features , but haven't delved into them yet.

Flip flops in April?! You must not live in coastal New England :)

April is usually very moody here...so little sun and lots of rain. We had a work day yesterday. Basiclly half the school is activated in some spring cleaning outdoors. We cut branches, colored fences, preped our garden, etc etc...I got sunburned lol. I think that says it all. We have over 80F.

Look under Particles brushes. I dont remember which exactly it was....i suggest u try em all, cuz I loved em today lol. I am exactly the same... I use 3 brushes for more or less everything. But i wanted a background for this and not just a flat surface.....and I never make backgrounds...so it a very weak area for me....ended up looking through 90% of brushes. So this was an "accident" but loved how it looked at the end.

And yes, must say the more I use Corel the more I love it.

Lovely!!! 💙 👏👏👏
Really nice work @atopy 😃

Very well done though! I do the same thing -- runaway projects :-/

One thing that always amazes me when I read your posts is all the work you put into your drawings, you really pour your heart into them. It's always good to see people do something out of passion.
Well, you're very talented, so there is that :) It'd be a pity not to do them. Amazing, really, I'm in awe. (I was gonna say impressed, but who am I to be impressed, I could never do that).

It just stopped raining in nyc, it should be time to leave work......

I really love this one! the highlights are awesome and the use of color is top notch.

Argh I need to get better!

Ty! You are better lol....rather just focus on that story. I cant wait for the next page. :)

Oh wow, ty! :)

I subscribed 3 courses on Udemy to learn drawing! I never attended any of these!
I just can't!
Better practicing by myself, and 15 minutes sketching is good.

Drawing is like any other skill..sure some have some prepositions that help but they are not crucial. Practice makes perfect....and if you are not in it for the sake of the product/final image do it for the sake of the process and simply beeing creative.

I never had any art classes but I am thinking about them.....maybe. So expensive here. :/

Amazing art..I appreciate your creativity.thanks for sharing this art....@atopy
