Yes, they are active :) I just checked and we are at over 900k users so the earlier number is incorrect. I agree that their is so much to post about and photographs to share :) Have you tried steepshot yet?

Its like instagram but for the steem blockchain. You can upload photos and then its posts to your steem account. There is apps on google play and apple store. Also on the web steepshot.io Its nice to have a separate place just for photos.
Ill check it out.
Another user said there was uploading bugs today so hopefully they fix it soon.
