A few of my balloon modelling attempts.

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians,

Here is a little story that I created from the small amount of pictures of my balloon modelling attempts that I have managed not to lose, somehow. Please sit down, relax and I'll begin........

'The day the spider visited'.

One morning, in George Mansions, a visitor had arrived in the kitchen. She must have crawled up the kitchen sink plug hole, but she looked a little too large to have come in that way.........

WP_20170221_003.jpg

Of course, this caused a whole lot of confusion, excitement and a bit of the scardies. But, George Mansions had always prided itself on being prepared for all such eventualities and so the Fire Service was called......

WP_20170219_001.jpg

................. unfortunately, their only fire engine was stuck atop an armchair, where a cat was reported to have gone missing.....

WP_20161230_009.jpg

So, a call went out to everyone in George Mansions to be on their look-out for a rather large spider. Actually, her name was Doris, but nobody waited around long enough to listen to her say anything, let alone introduce herself. Doris could smell flowers and thought she might be able to catch a fly or two for dinner.

WP_20170210_011.jpg

Doris decided that it was time to leave, but as soon as she moved, everybody thought she was on the attack and the alarm bells went off and all chaos broke loose. The birds all flew away, even the angry ones, who were now angrier..........

WP_20170109_003.jpg

WP_20170113_001.jpg

The rabbit just stood there, looking bewildered......... "What's going on, man", he said.

WP_20170114_002.jpg

"Don't ask us", chimed the lobster and the fish, both at the same time.

WP_20170110_003.jpg

WP_20170103_006.jpg

Just then, and from out of nowhere, as if this story was being made up as the writer went along, Elvis entered the building!

WP_20170211_005.jpg

......... on his motorbike......

WP_20170106_001.jpg

As the alarm rang out through George Mansions, the reconnaissance group from the minions arrived with absoloutely no idea what was going on, where they were or who they were. They did bring Doris a present, which did not go down too well - a flower.

"We bring news..... and bears...

WP_20170212_014.jpg

WP_20170212_015.jpg

The minions asked, "Have you seen Doris, the spider. We have been using flowers to attract her. The last three magical flowers have been stolen from the princess Elsa and her face has disappeared with the flowers. We need to find all three flowers, to get back Elsa's nose, eyes and mouth. We thought Doris could help us".

WP_20170208_002.jpg

WP_20170131_006.jpg

"He stole my face as well", said the other princess, whose name eludes the writer at this moment in time. "She's telling the truth", muttered the bear...

WP_20170212_004.jpg

"And I think that I know who he is. I am sure I saw him the other night, climbing out of a window and I bet the bag that he was carrying had the three magical flowers in it. After all, he is known as the world's greatest diamond thief............

WP_20170103_002.jpg

"Yes, I think it's the Pink Panther. He's stealthy and fast, a master of prestidigitation, equivoque and subterfuge. A genuine, run of the mill, old-school geezer, but so fast is he, that he'll shake your hand and steal your watch before you have time to.... well, before you have time. So, the hunt was on for The Pink Panther. The first character to ask was Tweety Pie, but he couldn't help much, because, as he pointed out, "I haven't even finished being made yet".............

WP_20170103_005.jpg

Suddenly, there was a gush of wind, followed by the sound, "Meep, meep!".....

WP_20170222_001.jpg

Roadrunner stopped and said, "Meep, meep!", again, before shooting off, shortly followed by the arrival of a certain villainous arch enemy of his.............

WP_20170221_014.jpg

Indeed, it was Wile E. Coyote, up to his usual tricks and no doubt something to do with The Pink Panther, but time was running out and dinner is nearly ready, so it was time to call in somebody who was as stealthy and as fast as The Pink Panther. It was time to call The Ninja!

WP_20170207_009.jpg

............ and the Stewie Griffin Ninja......

WP_20170205_015.jpg

It was at this point that all of the characters in this story (except for Elvis, who had left the building) looked at the writer in confusion, disbelief and it has to be said, that a certain few took utter umbrage at the realisation that he had exhausted the balloon pictures, without repeating any, and he was very tempted, but felt that having kept the readers long enough for a satisfactory conclusion, he would leave them without one, and pretend that it is one of those, 'However it ends is right for you' kind of things :).

....... did I manage to talk my way out of it?

Thank you all, very much for reading this and I hope you enjoyed the dafteness and a look at some of my balloon attempts, and now it's a very warm and friendly goodbye from me and a very warm and friendly goodbye from Doris.........

All the best :D

Thank you @steemking.

Had an amazing response and I think there are a few people that like balloon models as much as I do. I've seen some ridiculous balloon models. Nice to see you. I apologise, but wanted to upvote your comment, but have to have a day off, now that I understand voting. My vote right now would help nobody.

All the best :).

wow. Those are really cool.

How long have you been doing this?

Hello @flipstar,

I've been a magician for ten years or so, but do less amgic these days, but balloons kind of came with the territory and dealing with or performing for children, but balloon modelling isn't as hard as it looks, but remembering everything can be, especially when dealing with thirty children aged four to fourteen, but balloon modelling is therapeutic at home. To be honest, I don't know how long, but these area mixture of original and taught models, which I made in the last six months or so, for specific requests.

It's going to be nice to share some balloon stuff, from the therapy to the businesss and everything in-between, on Steemit. I have a wedding coming up and am going to suggest a full size bride and groom, so if they accept, I'll be sharing that, and maybe the making of it, to give people an insight as to how they are created.

I'm so sorry for the long reply to such a straight-forward question, but I have a habit of waffling. I have escaped and running free through Steemit, throwing words and numbers around, like they're going out of fashion... Wahey and Yaaay.... oops, sorry, see what I mean?

So, if the question is in regard to how long would it take you or somebody else to create models like these, I'd say that in a month you could easily be there, but maybe in a day. It's dependant upon the person and how comfortable they feel with the balloons, but I would definitely encourage anybody who is slightly interested to have a bash, and if that's the case, only use Qualatex, or Batallatex balloons, not the cheap £1 or $1 packs, from bargain stores. A Qualatex pump is advised, but after that, the world is your balloon sculpture :).

Again, I apologise for the length and thank you for your comment and compliments.

Have a nice day/evening,

All the best.

Those were so cute and creative.

Thank you, that's very kind. I made somebody a dress out of balloons this summer. Balloon modelling has come a long way, since the one balloon dog :). I'm glad you liked them

That was cool. I am even afraid to fold a ballon. 😅

Ha, ha, ha, I know what you mean, with the popping thing. Balloons are under attack and may be banned forever in this weird world we live in, because of the decibels of noise that they make when popping. They say it could damage children's hearing. I appreciate their sentiment, but not keen on banning fun. I cut my head open once, but it was during one of the best days ever. The hole in the head was well worth it ha, ha, ha, but I am aware that this is not a good precedent to follow.

I have to let my voting percentage rise for a day or two, so cannot vote, but will be back before seven days to upvote your comment. I'm been over-up-voting :).

Balloons do make a rather weird noise, when modelling them, as if warning you that they are going to pop, and often do, so the key is not to over-inflate. If only some of the bankers were balloon modellers. I use this noise to get attention in public places. Better than just shouting at folk.

Anyway, wanted to say I might be doing a daily balloon challenge, but could do a bit of tution as well, because I have taught balloon modelling to a few adults and the first thing they 'all' say is, "This is good therapy, isn't it?", or, "This is really therapeutic, isn't it?". But, some folk are genuinely feared of balloons and I completely get it. They are the children or folk who get most of my attention at a gig.

I have seen your name before and followed you, but had to take a second look at the picture, this morning ha, ha, ha, I thought it was a naked woman on a bed, wearing nipple tassles. I apologise for my crassness, but thought it was very funny. Tell you're cat that they look very sexy from a distance ha, ha, ha. Cool looking cat, though.

Sorry for flirting with your cat and thank you for the comments/converstaion.

All the best :).

The longest comment/reply I ever received. :D

You are not the first person to say that, zararina, so here is a short one, in contrast :).

Plastic or original

Hello,

I use Qualatex balloons, @manudada. They're made of latex. I'm not sure what plastic or original are, sorry.

haha it was interesting and fun! :D

Hello @artenthusiast,

Nice to meet you, Sir and thanks a lot. I t was genuinely a lot of fun to put together and not to have to keep everything in a box, so to speak. I've seen some sriously stunning balloon models and with the extremely positive response I've had from this post, I'm considering starting a challenge or model request series. Thank you for the comment and not sure if you upvoted, but I tried to follow all who upvoted, but you can't see beyond the first ten or so. Wondering if there's a way to see, so that I can follow everyone. The Streemit community is a two-way street to me, so I will always be following more people that follow me, unless it's impossible to follow them. A bot to follow all upvoters would be nice or some way of doing it that would make sense. But, I digress (which I do regularly).

Thank you for the comment, it's much appreciated.

All the best :).

You have certainly mastered your ballooning skills. It is not that easy I know. I used to do balloon animals when I did clowning for children when I was younger. It is so much fun to get your creative juices rolling.... and yours certainly are. Awesome, each and every one!

Hello @sunscape,

Very nice to meet you and thank you for the compliments, they mean so much more on here, as Steemit has a very genuine feel to it. You might be right about it not being easy, even though I have said it could be learned, possibly, in a day, but I might be underdoing ballooning slightly, but what I did mean is that it's possible for some to get the hang of it quickly and for others not to, same as with anything that requires dexterity of some kind.

Clowning's not an easy thing to do and with their recent growth in reputation as being scary, it makes it even more difficult for clowns, but I think the name should be changed to slapstick artists, or something similar, to update it. We're all potential clowns, but not all get the stage time to express themselves fully.

It is really good to get the creative juices flowing, I agree with you completely and it's surprising what develops.

Thank you for the comment, it's really appreciated.

All the best.

You are so welcome, I truly appreciated your talent as I know how difficult it can be to do balloon art. You really have a talent for the craft. Enjoy!

I apologise for the late response, but missed a few comments on here. Thank you for the kind words and it is nice when somebody appreciates what you do, and having first hand experiece yourself, it is a different form of appreciation.

You are very welcome, my pleasure as I so enjoyed seeing your balloon post.
