The Camden Market Free Art Man 22nd March 2026
The last of a five day in a row staging of The Camden Market Free Art Man. I ran out of booklets to give out, which was a shame as a writer from Los Angeles just missed out on one. I had given them out pretty willy nilly to people earlier in the day, many of whom I doubt can read English. Not such a bad idea as they are primarily picture books full of qr codes. Or even qr books with some pictures next to them. But I think the LA writer would have liked the booklet, so I'll make an effort to bring more next time. They're not cheap to get printed. I think 1100 cost me over £200 and I'm getting through at least 20 per Camden Market day. Children are liking the small colourful paintings in the suitcase and often take them without doing an interview. I could make it clearer in the display that people are supposed to do an interview, but the better answer is to just make more of them and let people take them. They are, essentially, free adverts for my work, going to anyone interested enough to stop in their tracks and take one. The 1% of my most interested target audience.
