Alien Self-Portrait / Original Digital Art
This week I had the idea to create a somewhat surreal portrait of myself. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do exactly so I imported a photo into my painting app and started playing. This is often how I start my creative process on days when I am feeling unfocused.
I ended up taking about half of my face and angling it a little bit and then duplicating it to create a symmetry which completely changed the shape of my face. It looked somewhat alien to me so I decided to run with it. I then painted over the face a little bit and obviously cut and pasted the eyes down my face and mouth. (I don't have seven eyes just incase your wondering).
I felt like it was still missing something so I added the crown/wings/bubbles? to the top of my head. I stepped back and looked at it, somewhat horrified and somewhat amused at the final result :)
I am considering making this a series, Alien Portraits anyone?
