This is a collection of drawings that i did at the area of the Sesc Pompeia in Sao Paulo, Brazil. A Sesc is a cultural center that offers various programs like sports, lectures, concerts, and more. The Sesc Pompeia was an old Fabric in Sao Paulo and has been transformed to a sports - and culturalcenter by the architect Lina Bo Bardi from 1977 to 1986.

All the perspectives that i drew have been on the area of the Sesc Pompeia, some outside, some inside the transformed fabric halls.

The tall building on the left contains a swimmingpool and fields for basketball for example. The sketches that i did took me around 10 to 20 minutes to draw. It was nice to stay there on a sunny day and see the people moving around in their free time on the weekend, some have just been there to eat or drink something, some with their kids to play and other ones to go to the theatre or the library, that the Sesc contains.

This second drawing has the same perspective than the first one, but the focus is more on the lower buildings that have brick facades. The architecture is more rough than ''gloss'', for me it is very strong and i like the beauty in the roughness.

This perspective shows the entry to the area. You feel like you walk on a street in a little village, and on the left and the right you always have the big openings to enter to the fabric halls that contain different utilizations. You feel much more comfortable and in a surrounding that is more adapted to the human scale, than outside of this area with large streets and buildings, that are much taller.

This is a perspective, that i drew inside one fabric hall. On the floor you can see a small river, that makes you feel really calm there. Together with the MASP (Museu de Arte Sao Paulo) the Sesc Pompeia is the most famous building of Lina Bo Bardi. All the halls are designed very open, you feel like the space is flowing through the whole area.

The last drawing shows the entry hall of the theatre, that also contains a little shop that sells books. Lina opened the roofs of the fabric with big windows of glass, which brings light inside the spaces. For me it is very sympathetic that you can see all the structure and understand how the building is constructed. The different materials are shown as they are and give a unique image when coming together at the Sesc Pompeia. It was a nice day to walk through the Building and the free spaces inbeween and sometimes stay somewhere and draw. As an architecture student i like it a lot to draw buildings, because then you have to look on the details and understand how the building works. Also you keep better in mind how the space appeared. And when you stay at one place for a little time you also see how the people there behave and move, which is really interesting. I hope you can imagine a little bit how this place appears and liked my post. Thanks for watching! :)
