Self-Portrait
During my freshman year of college, I frequented using charcoal pencils and smudge sticks to create depictions. In this instance, I drew me! There's a lot I've learned from my professors doing this, and they've shown me super helpful techniques in regard to the procedure. Here's how you can do it too!
Similar to the picture shown above, you would need to take a photo of yourself first. This is the most creative part. It can be of you doing anything - running outside, working in your home office or even just standing there, pleasantly smiling. Make the image about you.
After this, you're gonna want to project your image onto a canvas of some sort so you can prepare to trace it. This is where your outlines will come in, setting the foundation for the structure of your entire portrait.
Once traced, now you're ready to fill in the stroke with content! Pick up your charcoal pencils, blending stick, dry erasers and charcoal blocks and fill in your face! Be sure to match the shades/tints within the photograph with the shades/tints from your pencil.
And voila! .. You have yourself a self-portrait produced fully with charcoal. I hope you all give this a try and put an awesome piece of work into your portfolio. And who knows; you may even use it as a signature profile picture or avatar one day.

It's interesting to see the process. I do not have the tools at hand, but it is always better to know how things work.
Thanks for the knowledge!
Happy to share, Tron.
