The trick is to make the task less scary. Instead of thinking, "I have to write this massive report," tell yourself, "I’m just going to write the first sentence." By making the task tiny, you stop triggering that "danger" alarm in your brain, allowing your Prefrontal Cortex to take the lead again.

Stop beating yourself up for procrastinating, and start understanding the science behind it. Your brain is just trying to keep you happy—sometimes, you just have to remind it that being productive feels good too!
