Sun Zi's Art of War :

in #art8 years ago

This 2,500 year-old book proves that while the weaponry has changed over time, the rules for successful warfare strategies have not. It is a surprisingly compact distillation of strategic principles that is still as useful today as it was when Sun Zi [Sun Tzu] first wrote it. Its principles were applied by the combatants of the "Three Kingdoms" period, Mao Tse-Tung, and the corporate warriors in the sales and marketing departments of today.

The Art of War is divided into 13 chapters

The Nine Situations : The Nine Battlegrounds

The Attack by Fire : Attacking with Fire

Sort:

I've also studied as a part of Qi Men Dun Jia course. So apart from being a military tretease it is also a sort of a spellbook. :->
It is just that Chinese call spells "stratagems", but there is a "magic" aspect to them as well.

Totally agree your thinking, 奇门遁甲术( Qi Men Dun Jia) also a magic and so good for Chinese people. Let us introduce it in STEEM here.

I really liked the film Hero (2014), when I first watched it, I was like cool film. But after qmdj course I was like, I think I have to watch it again.
And it eas like, Gen metal (Nameless) comes to the Emperor (Jia), and how it all works out and why. Quite a bit of qmdj/bazi symbolism went into the film.

The only thing missing was "the Cause" why the soldiers were fighting is also a huge factor in battles. State of mind. I guess 2500 years ago it was a lot easier to convince people to fight when you lived in a tiny village with nothing to do and suddenly 50 men on horses with swords and armor show up and ask you to join them. I'd probably.

I read the book when I was teen. It was kinda dry, in part due to translation, but I do love reading articles about the book of war.

Maybe we can cowork to find winner example of War which use SunZi art. And introduce to everyone.( 經典战役史蹟 )

Have you read it? It starts with considerations like that, actually. Hmm, let me find a copy and I'll quore you exact passages.

the translated copy i had was awful. Would like something more how to say "modern" language i guess

(I)ntelligence.
