Pencil Sketch of Me

This is a 15 minute sketch that Amanda made of me while taking a nap when we first got together back in 2006. At the time I really had no idea that she could even draw. When I woke up, she was still messing with it and I was like "holy crap! I was only out for like 20 minutes". It seems kind of funny to me now, since she is a professional artists who does it every day for a living.

A lot of people think that artists just fart it out through some magical talent that they were born with. The truth is, most people are born with some level of artistic talent. It takes a lot of hard work and effort to develop the skills that professional painters and illustrators possess.

So the next time you meet an artist and appreciate their work, think about that fact. Instead of saying 'Wow! You are really talented!" Maybe say something like "Wow! What skillful work!"

It may seem arbitrary, but it will mean a lot to them. Thanks for looking, and don't forget to resteem and upvote if you like!

Wow, that takes Talent and you are right ....a tremendous amount of Skill that probably took years to develop.

Thanls for sharing @nuthman

Thanks! She amazes me every day.

Very good sketch! Great drawing technique!

Thanks! I appreciate it.

Wow man really a great sketching man @nuthman... Lovely to see your post.

Thank you my friend!

It's so true that talent alone is not enough, it has to be developed and maintained with schedules and determination. I don't mid when people say talent to me, though, it's nice sometimes to have people think I just magic up things when I know how much I've toiled, it makes me smile :)

Yes, I agree with you! Personally, it has never bothered me when someone says that I am talented at something; I know that they are just trying to be nice and compliment me. I never had really thought about it until my girlfriend mentioned it one time that she didn't like being called talented. I was a bit confused until she explained that she felt it diminished the skill that she had worked hard to develop.

I think she is starting to soften up on it these days. To be fair, she gets annoyed way to easily by a lot of things. haha!

Very skillful, to think that it's just a 15min sketch. It's really inspiring 😊

Yeah, it blew me away when I saw it. It's funny now because I'm used to her drawing really well, really fast. But back then it always made me do a double take.

Wow, this is truly amazing :)

Thank you Manisha!

And yeah
This is something we really want to see on knacksteem

Looks like a cool project. I went over there and tried to log in to check it out, but the steemconnect link seems to be broken. I got a 404 error when clicking the login button.

The project is still under development and we are currently working on redesigning the UI (should be done soon). To gain access to the main app, click here
