Doodle and decorate your home #2 (Tutorial)

in #art8 years ago

We mostly doodle on paper but I am going to change that and show to you that you can Doodle on really everything if you have the right tools. Why should you only doodle during boring meetings, classes or when you have a nice sit on the toilet. Why not doodle on things you like to make them look even more amazing?
So this time I want to show you that you can Doodle your own pencil holder!

Need: *A pencil holder made of wood.
*A waterproof marker ( I used a Top Write pen color blue)
           *A really good mood!
           *Music that calms you.

I used this as a pencil holder for a while now and to be honest, it's rather honest. So, time for a change and pimp it up with some nice doodles. This is a wooden box really not made to be a pencil holder but I liked the shape so I started to use it for my pencils. I started by cleaning it up to make sure the surface I was going to draw on was clean.

I started with a flower in the middle and went from there. I prefer to use a mix of doodles instead of just one. For me it makes the doodles more alive. You can of course doodle every shape you like on your own pencil holder.
Drawing on wood is very different than paper! So start slow and get used to the product you are working on to avoid making mistakes.

Try to make doodles with a lot of color in them to deepen your drawings. As you can see I made a heart and a circle and made them pop out by filling a lot of them in with dark thick lines.

Keep doodling BUT... As you can see at this picture there is time between this one and the previous one. Why? because I had to let the ink dry. Depending on the kind of wood, sometimes you need to stop and let the ink dry to prevent yourself from wiping it out! If you are working with a waterproof marker every mistake you make will be seen. :D But like I always say, don't be afraid to make a mistake, it happens and with doodles it will solve itself.

Keep doodling to make sure you cover every inch on the wood that you want covered with happy doodles!
At the end I went back to some to darken them a bit more up!

And there you go, your own pencil holder with doodles! All you need to do now is put pencil in it and sit back, stare at it with a big smile and take lots of pictures to share on Steemit!

Extra info: Use a marker with a small point for finer works or a big marker with a big point of you want your doodles to be massive. I think in little items the finer doodles look better but that is just my opinion.
